Just a drilling tip for anyone drilling thru this material drill speed is a major factor faster is not better like she is doing a slow speed is better with light pressure the drill bit will do the work if you go really fast it will cause melting and smell so slow and light-medium pressure is best.

What thickness should the acrylic sheet be? And what size should the standoff hardware be?

How you stick the picture onto the acrylic sheet? chewing gum?

Thanks for showing that detail on how the standoff screws work. What thickness of plexi are you using (it looks a little thin, is it because you can only fit so much in the spacer)? An alternative option I found (but haven't tried yet) is an "edge grip" standoff screw. With those, you wouldn't even need to drill holes into the acrylic panels. It's meant for acrylic block signs (like you see outside office doors in glass-door buildings), but if you had some thicker acrylic, I bet it could be tightened just enough to slide out and change out the artwork inside without taking it all apart... for instance if you were displaying children's artwork or doing a seasonal rotation of your walls!

I LOVE That idea! They sound perfect! You're right, this plexi is pretty thin... for those four large pieces, it gets expensive FAST! I'd LOVE to have thicker acrylic up there... one day! :)

its better to use a dremel, and acrylic bit, or a counter sink. acrylic sheets are too freakin expensive to play with fire like that, especially if you've got a ton of pieces to frame.

Hi, what kind of drill bit ideally... wood or metal drill bit? TIA

Hi Charlotte, Can you tell me how you had the pictures stick to the acrylic and a link to your standoff screws? Thank you this tutorial is great!
@AtCharlottesHouse6 жыл бұрын
Hi Amanda! I just updated the video description to include my blog post... links are there with all supplies. Thanks for pointing that out! Here are the stand off mounts I used: amzn.to/2s5pGmh I and adhered the maps with those little clear glue dots right onto the frame and the map itself. The glue dots won't easily come off the artwork so consider a neat clear piece of tape along to back of the artwork onto the frame as an alternative!

What drill bit size and screw size did you use
@AtCharlottesHouse3 жыл бұрын
I used a drill bit large enough to accommodate the screw of the standoff mount. So it depends...

How do you stick it to the wall
@AtCharlottesHouse3 жыл бұрын
You use standoff mounts as shown.
@ibkizzle7 жыл бұрын
how much was this project?
@AtCharlottesHouse7 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the acrylic. I believe this larger size is $15 a sheet so for four frames it was $60 plus the cost of hardware so maybe $70?
@ryandinhotenacious39995 жыл бұрын
Metal bit would work best
@phrozencrew24944 жыл бұрын
or just buy an acrylic drill bit for less than $2
@ruseventyfour29483 жыл бұрын
Please we need more details.. what is the exact thickness of the acrylic you bought? What was the sheet size and cost? Can you link to the product at lowes? Is there any claims about UV protection? All acrylics are better at protecting than glass but some acrylics are better than others. Thank you for posting the video but ultimately you did this either for views or to genuinely help people.. you will do both with more info.
