Learn more about Dry Ice cleaning here - www.drycenation.com/
Today, I go into detail about how we cleaned my flooded McLaren P1's sandy bodywork with a process called dry ice cleaning. To demonstrate how well it works, I took an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish Tremec T56 transmission that was in a garage fire and attempted to clean it up using this process. The results speak for themselves!
We then take a look around my friend Scott Ales' collection of cars and it's a trip down memory lane for sure!

Dude we are all waiting for this p1 build to get done. You said it yourself, no one has done anything like this..seeing the internal workings of a p1, freaking awesome. Thanks for taking on this challenge. I just can’t wait for this project to be done and see the result of yours and many others hard work. Drive it to a mclaren dealership and have them inspect it before it gets sold to your buyer. All jokes aside, its a huge project and its been quite a journey to watch. Thank you

My grandfather used to rebuild TR6s back in the 80s and 90s. He built so many cool cars like his 72 Monte Carlo and his 73 Chevy 3/4 ton work truck that he turned into a luxury ride in the early 90s. But the TR6 is the car that I always associate with him. It is so cool to see other people that are in to them.

@ccnixon 3 ай бұрын
I had a TR6, and I considered it a terrible experience. The Lucas electronics were very bad. In most of British Leyland, Cars were unreliable especially, if you put too many miles on them. They rusted pretty fast also. The Jaugar was saved by Ford, but they sold it after a short while of ownership.

Great Video, Thank you for showing more of the Dry ice blasting and behind the magic on how things work. That's very cool collection he has there. I see a lot of people commenting about wanting to see the P1 build to be done. I understand this is no normal build like anyone has ever done before and your taking it to a level that no P1 has ever been taken before. So this does not happen over night when companies are building bespoke turbos and carbon fiber bodies that need to be fitted. I'm sure everyone is going to love to see the coming progress I know I am.

Dry ice blasting is a wonderful tool, but is not a do all solve all, i like a combination of dry ice blasting and walnut blasting for the best results. That transmission would look 2x nicer if you walnut blast it before the dry ice blasting. i use that method a lot in the motorcycles i build and restore. Those MV Agusta's are really rare bikes, just a tip from someone who got screwed by one. A lot of magnesium parts, you need to watch out the dry ice on those, if they get really cold they can crack since they are almost 60 years old and made with a material that is light but brittle as dry clay when it's old. it looks like he has a couple of 750S's, a 750S america, that Magni bike could be worth more than 100k if it is an 860 stroker bike. it could really be more than 500k on those 5 bikes.

@@DesertEagleDutch I had the best luck in the world being an autistic kid who lived in the northern Italian countryside. had the opportunity to be around a lot of old grandpas with 50 years of racing everything under the sun. So I was lucky to be taught a lot of strange custom ways of doing things. I have a funny one for you. Before there was any dry ice blasting when I was around 10 years old, they would leave an engine block or a chassis that needed deep cleaning in a meat freezer overnight, and in the morning gave me a metal brush and a coat to go there and clean the parts off. Homemade "ice blasting" from the 90`s. I still do it with some parts in a horizontal big freezer I have. Another nice tip for your kindness.

That volvo p1800 breaks engine in at 200k miles, it's a world record holder for the most mileage on the vehicle at 3m miles, 400k on those things when it's looked after is like 100k on your clean passat B8. It sadly even outlasted it's owner.

@user-Legendnmyiwnmind he explained it on one of his more recent videos. They are cannibalizing the old wiring harness with the new harness they got from a different model. It is extensive and taking for ever to make sure it is done right.
@FalconXE302
@FalconXE302 3 ай бұрын
@user-Legendnmyiwnmind ...spot on. I'm guessing he's realised he bit off way more than he could chew. Frankly, it's no longer a P1 seen as basically everything that made it a P1, is not being replaced. When you make a new video on working on the P1, and all it is a dry ice cleaning, you know things are not moving along well at all.

I think you're right Freddie, I owned a 240z back in the 80s when it was a cheap second hand buy! I read an article from a Datsun designer that the 240z was inspired by the e-type Jag. I guess he was thinking of the Toyota 2000GT (don't think there was ever an S2000 Toyota) but unlikely that inspired the 240z as it was only launched 2 years before - not really much time to copy it.
