This is absolutely perfect for the hospital bag I need. There are a great many people who live with conditions that make the odd hospital stay inevitable. If a person could make this and gift it to someone who lives with a chronic health condition I am certain they would really appreciate it. It has the "Christine touch" in that it looks beautiful and cheerful, but also is practical and useful. The shorter handles could be hooked on the hospital bed for easy access. The large pockets would be useful for a category of item. For example, electrical things like phone chargers, or a wash bag or a collection of homey things to make you feel more comfortable. Thank you so much for designing this bag. It can be used for a variety of purposes, which is lovely, but I really am grateful that you gave this thought to create something so useful for chronically ill people.

You're very welcome kerry. You could easily add a few more pockets or even a detachable bag to the inside as well for even more goodies 😁

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I have been pondering the possibilities. The Mission House is being renovated so at the moment my sewing station is out of action, but I thought I would go over some of your other videos to see if other bags you have designed could be added. I was thinking about fragile things, like the mobile phone and a simple pocket inside a pocket for paperwork. This is one of the clever things about this bag. I am sure it can have a couple of things added to address particular needs. I shared this video on FB and Twitter, recommending your channel. In the New Year, if time will allow, I might make some of these bags and gift them to the Missionary Sisters of Charity here in the UK. (I will make sure you are credited and your channel recommended, of course). The Sisters sell bits and bobs to help their mission of mercy so they could do that or give them to people who would need them. I have just started up my own channel ( not sewing. I am nowhere near good enough for that!) but do make things for the missions as well. Thank you again, Christine. God bless you 🙃(upside down smiley because I am in England and you are in Australia!)

Love the bag, love the black trim as well. Stabilizer is a good idea, but, on the other hand, I think it would pack up smaller in a suitcase for travelling without stabilizer (for us northern people heading somewhere warm for the winter) lol. . either way, it's a nice size and looks simple enough to make. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve made several bags of this size out of family recycled jeans as diaper bags for grandchildren. I was told it was big enough for the baby and all their stuff as well. I could sneak out with the baby and no one would know. 😇😇😇 I wish I could attach a photo here for everyone to see. I did use stabilizer in mine. Thank you again. I look forward to all your videos including cooking ones. May god always bless your family.

That’s a lovely bag,I quite like it floppy for the beach.Love the amount of pockets ,I am going to make one for my knitting.I have a request if it is possible,I work in a nursing home and a lot of the people have walking frames,could you design a bag or pouch with pockets that could clip over the frame.They like to carry sweets ,hankies,mobile phones etc.If it’s possible,I would be very grateful,we tie plastic carriers on the front and they don’t look very nice.

For a beach bag, I think I’d use waterproof fabric on the inside as well or instead for wet towels, bathing suits. How would you recommend washing this bag? They can get smelly when they don’t get unpacked…ask me how I know! Lol. Great tutorial!

I love this bag, but would want a way to close it to prevent the contents spilling out. Maybe a drawstring closure on the inside of the bag, or straps that can be connected with press studs (would work similar to the stretchy straps in suitcases that hold clothes in place). I hope you can fathom what I mean. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely, BIG, and can be reversible! How often have you had to slam your car brakes, and then your bags on an empty seat go flying? Since the gusset sides want to drop inward, I would add a couple straps with hook and eye tape, or D-ring and small snap shackle. It will help keep all your goodies from falling out.

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs When I have to drive an hour into Olympia or further to Tacoma - usually for medical appointments - most of the drive is on county and US highways, and 4-to-6 lane Interstate. We live in a small town on the coast and our traffic isn’t too congested. Except during tourist season (US Highway 101 is a major route to and from the coast, and runs straight through town), and especially now that there is loads of construction on Hwy 101. In the cities, it seems everyone is in a big hurry, so there’s a lot of jockeying between lanes. It makes me crazy. I always leave plenty of room, but then some jackleg will whip in from an adjacent lane. All too often it means I have to hit the brakes. Two weeks ago a woman did just that too close in front of my husband, then immediately hit her brakes. He rear ended her. He has a Jeep Wrangler with a guard and front receiver hitch, so there was major damage to her car. Only a few scratches to his. That should be the last time she pulls such a stupid maneuver, but even though she caused it, he’s the responsible party.

If you're making a beach bag, shouldn't the liner be something water resistant and very quick drying, like polypropylene or polyester? Or, if you want it to stay fresh smelling for longer, then flax linen or hemp?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
Good point Justin. For a beach bag, I'd want something washable, but for travel or hospital stays it wouldn't matter. This video is more about technique rather than material as most of what I use in my sewing is done with rescued/repurposed fabric😁
