Confession is top priority for me every day as it is the means to remaining as pure as possible.

I just want to say thank you. I stumbled on a few of your videos rather randomly, and it's awoken something inside of me. I've contacted my local church and spoken to a priest. They have a programme where one can learn about Catholism and meet some of the people involved, over a 6 month period. I'm at the start of my journey. Please pray for me, and once again thank you!

Confession keeps us holy. Without it, we are out of grace. It is a gift (a sacrament) for another gift (grace).
@loveandideas3 жыл бұрын
You are not holy, forget about this. No one is holy on this earth. Ask yourself why you go to confession and you will see that your motivation isn't holy.

@loveandideas Then why does The Bible ask us to be holy? "Be holy as you Father in heaven is Holy"

Great post. Confession is such a valuable gift. I hadn't gone to confession for decades, and a huge weight has been lifted of my soul. I'm glad you addressed being sincere in seeking forgiveness & repentance. A disingenuous confession is a major problem that must be resolved. I urge all Catholics to utilize this wonderful sacrement, it's a life changer.

I didn't have to say an act of contrition after my first confession. The priest told me I had shown I was full of sorrow, and that that was enough for the Lord. For me it was a bit weird, but I understood what he said, and why. I was really nervous at first, but afterwards I was smiling a lot. The healing power of confession!

That book is amazing. My mother was impressed when I read that passage to her. I couldn't agree more with having devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows as a means for contrition.

I did some sinful sexual stuff when I was younger, and that's what makes me worried about going to confession. I really want to, but I'm worried the priest will, well, 'judge me' or say I need to speak to someone else and not a priest. I know if I went to confession it would help me lead a pure life until I'm married, give me a clear "turning point", but telling a devout person like a priest the things i've done when i was younger is almost like i'm offending them. hard to explain. Anyway, God bless!

Have you tried talking to a priest about the anxieties you have about confession? I don't think they can make you tell someone about your sins but definitely ask them about that. Remember, when you confess your sins you're confessing to Jesus. He loves you so much more than you could imagine and He died to give you this beautiful sacrament. Whatever the priest thinks, and he almost certainly won't think anything bad about you, remember the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). In the sacrament of confession, you are the prodigal son coming back home to the Father. Praying for you

Pray to Padre Pio and read about him. Priests have heard everything. Say the worst sin first; get it out of the way immediately. Ask our Lady for help. Humility can bring a lot of peace and joy. Find a priest with great Faith and who is quite serious. God bless you

I was also in this position and was do ashamed when I went to confession after 30 years. The priest was so wonderful and welcomed me home, told me God has been waiting for me and is so happy with me that I came to confess my sins and receive his forgiveness. I felt like 1000 pounds were lifted from me. The priest will not judge you! You will feel so much better I promise.

Hello Religious Hippie, I would like to say thank you for this video about going to confession. The sacrament of confession is my favorite sacrament because there are times when I commit any type of sin venial or mortal. And I vividly remember when a few days before my Catholic retreat, I lied to a friend of mine and was being deceitful but this friend of mine could tell that I couldn’t hide the truth at all and the guilt was overwhelming. So I told her of what I did and she wasn’t angry with me. And by the time I went to my Catholic retreat, I went to the sacrament of reconciliation and told the priest of what I did and he told me of what I should do for my penance. And as for my friend, she’s not Catholic but she’s a non denominational Christian and I tried explaining to her about the sacrament of confession and how important it is to me and how it helps me to improve my relationship with God and with other people. She didn’t quite understand it. And she said, “Why can’t you just go directly to God to confess your sins instead of going to a priest?” And I said, “Well Deb, let me explain to you of why going to a priest during confession is vital and important. Because whenever I commit any type of sin whether it’s venial or mortal, the sacrament of confession helps me to clear out my moral conscience and I tell the priest of what I did wrong and he tells me of what I should do for my penance. And in the sacrament of confession, it’s Jesus Christ who forgives me because the priest is In persona Christi.”

I actually haven’t completed a conversion because I haven’t yet found anywhere where the people seem clean enough for something I should be aligning with, but I realized about 7 years ago that my own Dunkin’ Donuts coffee habit was materialistic and gluttonous, and that I was wasting too much money on it (I’m not even going into the overuse of plastic cups that would make my current employer fall out because they’re so careful about the environment). I still make coffee at home, but feel contrite about my addiction. Since I am doing work for God that’s really hard, I drink more coffee than normal people, but it isn’t going to be permanent. One thing I did like about Dunkin’ Donuts is that their iced coffee is more cost-effective than other places. I still have one on occasion. I just am not gluttonous about it anymore.

I live in a German-speaking country, but I only attend the Croatian mass, that's why I never learned how to pray in German and there are not many opportunities for confession in the Croatian language . So I was wondering if I could go to Confession and confess in one language and pray in another.

I’m going to confession at the Cathedral, and I understand at my home parish, we currently only have one priest (there were two retired priests that would help him before, but one died in December and one died in June, and the Diocese hasn’t given us either another priest or given us a consistent retired priest to help us out), but he will be less busy after rearranging Mass times in August 2021 and will return to normal confession times. Please pray for me and him and the parish. It has been a hard time. Right now, I go to a parish that says the Novus Ordo with the Agnus Dei in Latin. From my understanding of the Pope’s new rules, current parishes that say the Extraordinary Form can exist, but new places can only have “chapel” status. Is that correct?
