That's actually such a good all purpose preset 808 sound! I might make it a default preset for myself now. I keep struggling with an instant idea because I'm too busy trying to create a nice 808 sound. And since I'm new to the trap style atm, I find it annoying how slow I'm picking up 808's right now. Thanks for this.

I recently watched an interview of a french producer who works for oVo / Partynextdoor. The interview was very interesting and he told the audience that he almost exclusively uses a preset from NI Razor called "Punch in the balls" as his 808. He just tweaks it a little (distortion). I tend to use Serum for 808s, I double click the wavetable and tweak the harmonics to taste manually.

Serum can work on any DAW. You can either buy it for $189 or get it for $10 a month on Splice! It's more like Sylenth or Massive than Omnisphere, but they all do similar things!

So 808s are weird, because techcically the come from the Roland TR-808. However, most people call the modern decay sub bass patches 808s, just has a homage to the iconic sustained 808 kicks in the Roland.
