I had fun putting this video together for you all! It has been a crazy and fun 252 days. I wanted to do a recap video that shows the highlight of the 6 part build series. I'm sure some could have done it quicker. Myself, I spend a lot of time making sure I have the best camera angle for you and editing the footage while building. I also work full-time serving as a Director of Operations for a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, speak publicly to break the stigma of addiction and alcoholism, and co-founder/ president of a non-profit foundation. So, I have a pretty busy schedule. I say that to say this, no matter how long it takes someone to build something we need to be proud of what we create, after all we are enriching the lives of our animals every day, hour, second we spend creating naturalistic habits for them. This build has given me some cool ideas for my upcoming series. Thank you all for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy this video 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

Thanks so much for this recap! Very very well done! I’m just as blown away when watching the review as when watching each part of the series. I especially appreciate all the steps you take to ensure easy maintenance. Thank you, Erin, I couldn't agree more with easy maintenance being important. That was my main goal. Finally ❤ How would you describe drylock after cured? Is it kinda like rubber? In Norway I get something called wet room membrane as drylock is very expensive for volume. Membrane is mainly for use between cement floor/walls and tiles in bathrooms/wet rooms. I'm also looking for a no cocohusk method that is economical as my daughter insists it's not smart what bacteria fungus regards even with all the evidence I've shown her. As you understand I've got handed the snake from her as it outgrow her expectation (shop said 6ish foot) It is now 11-12 and since it's a morelia it loves to climb and I'm financially f**** even after building the shell but the snake needs a bigger home😢
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Good questions, drylok is not rubbery. It dries hard after a few coats. It has sand granules in it so it looks like fake rock. Sounds like you are building something nicely sized for your snake. And i get it, the bigger the enclosure, the more $ it costs. But the more you'll appreciate it when you finish. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢

Excellent process! I am using your vids to help me build ETB and Bullsnake enclosures, they have been extremely inspiring! Quick question: I’m not crazy into the idea of spending that kind of money for Zoopoxy; is drylok enough waterproofing for a drip wall?
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you, and I don't have personal experience with emerald tree boa or Bullsnake. But I would think so. I would definitely use lexel advisive in needed spots ( where foam meets water resuvor and at the top of dripwall. (Check out part 2 of the series) and then do 7 to 8 coats of drylok (I over build to prevent issues in the future, especially when it comes to water). Zoopoxy does cost a little but but it will last a lifetime. Depending on how big your water features, 2 gallons should worn instead of doing the whole enclosure. Hope this helps. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

How do you lock the sliding doors? Wanting to transfer your build into a 7 foot long cage for a bci boa. Trying not to spend a fortune on glass so 2x 36 inch plexiglass panels with a 1 foot pocket door like yours would work fine and be budget friendly
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Good question. I used glass so it is fairly heavy and would need a hard push without the handles. So I didn't use a lock. If I feel I need one in the future I'll add one like I did on my blue tree monitor enclosure. Link in that videos description (I have removed the lock on that enclosure for the same reason) plus I put the guards up that rest on the inside mainly to eliminating the reptile to get between where the glass edge meets the side of the enclosure. Hope that helps. 🤘💯🦎🐍🐸🐢🌱

Absolutely amazing! I have a question about the zoopoxy, did you cover every square inch of the xps board with it and of so how much did it take. Seeing this build motivates me to build!
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thanx, and yes, I did cover everything in polygem zoopoxy 307 lite. Depending on the reptile that's going in, it would determine if this is needed. You might be able to get away with zoopxybin high traffic areas and a few coats drylok in others. This build was just short of 20 gallons. But I did go heavy bin some areas. I probably could have gotten away with 15 gallons otherwise. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

Yes, I'm using 1 54w jungle dawn for plants. It seems to be doing well, and I'm getting a lot of new growth with it. How long is your viv? It might be too much light depending on the plant species. ey brad got a question I got a window gap of 180 cm by 115 high with two glass panels can I use just a normal slide U profiles or do you recomend those things with wheels? glass I got is 6 milimeter thick
@bradsbioactivebuilds
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
So rightly 6x4 foot. That's about the same size as my blue tree monitor enclosure. I dod not use wheels on the tracks. Mainly bc it was more expensive but I also had concerns of the wheels getting stuck with debris from the enclose being kicked up while the larger reptiles do their thing lol. I did use tempered glass with rounded edges sobit would travel through the track more easily. It's an option the glass company I went to offered. (Rounded is more of a 45° on the sides and corners if that makes sense) Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

@SpyrhoTheOneManArmy the U profiles work great for me. They are easy to slide back and forth but also have a little resistance, which I like. Nothing to crazy but I havnt had to use a lock because of it. 6mm is roughly 1/4" glass. That's what I use (tempered). No issues

I've just recently got interested in vivarium/paludarium -stuff and have been experimenting with my second-hand large exoterra -terrarium I purchased a few months ago. You are such an inspiration. Albeit being a complete newbie in this scene, I'm quite convinced these are state-of-the-art builds even among professionals. Anyway - that out of the way, I did have a question as well! Does these bioactives need any mainentance beyond maybe water change (just guessing here)? Mainenance such as cleaning once in a while etc. or does bioactivity itself kind of take care of all that? I'm just weighing my options as of how time consuming the maintenance is...also being Director of Operations myself...with family - time is prettttty limited to say the least. Cheers man if you take the time to reply, it's much appreciated! Looking forward to future content!

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. There is a 6 part series to this build that breaks down this video in further details. I'm glad you are getting into the hobby. It's definitely a fun one to be a part of. To answer your question, bioactive mainly cleans up after itself with the clean-up crew, but at times, if there is a big 💩 your animal does might as well clean it up if possible. With smaller reptiles and amphibians, it will usually be gone by the am. They also have advantages with mold reduction, etc. Hope this helps

Yeah, their website does offer a lot of different stuff. In the addicted video I have the link for the 307 lite and thickening agent. It is definitely an amazing product. Super easy to work with, reallyblight wraight and durable. Hope this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2q1eoVmpqqSp5Isi=Ar3k09kwoGB9pVrr

It's hard to put a dollar amount on it because there are a lot of areas throughout this build I could have spent more, spent less or skipped certain steps. I'd say a base line would be $2500. But that's from cutting the 1st peice of wood to adding the last isopod

I used a few different types depending on spots. But in short 100% GE 1 silicon,a 100% silicone used for plastics, lexel adhesive (not a silicone but it's paintsble and used in the hobby for pvc enclosures and for the glass track I forget the name but can check next time in in the reptile room. Hope this helps!
