Hey man another question how did you go about hollowing out the under part of the straps for the part that snaps to the mask? If you don’t know what I mean go to 23:13 where you show it and that’s what I mean

I dug that leather out with a dremel and small rounded bit. However this isn't screen accurate. I believe brass paper fasteners were used in the movie instead of snaps

Beautiful work, the only thing differently I would have done. That I do,is you don't need strap snaps, the actual hero mask uses simple cheap fold over copper folding brads, if that's the correct name..but hey yours works!

One of the best tutorials I've found! I'm getting a part 7 blank next week. I had a question for you, I'm making the straps myself and I'm not sure what the sizing should be. Any way you could tell me the strap length measurements?
@WEBora3 жыл бұрын
Since every latex and silicone mask, bust, and head are a different size, you'll need to customize the straps. What I do is tape the hockey mask in place on the a bust in the position that I want it displayed. Once its taped where you want it, you'll have both your hands free to get a rough estimate as ti how much length you'll need to cut the leather. Just wrap a 1 inch wide peice of leather from ear to ear where the attachment holes of the mask are, that's where you'll need to punch holes in the leather for the horizontal strap. Do the same for the top attachment hole down to where the vertical strap intersects with the original strap. It's a "guess and check" process. I use green or blue painters tape to hold the mask since tape like that removes easily.
@dillweed19923 жыл бұрын
@@WEBora Thanks a lot. I wouldn't have thought to use painters tape for the measurements. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Why do u use the white acrylic paint?
@rebel107934 жыл бұрын
Nice work. It came out great. I do have a question though. In the beginning you put all those little dings on the right side with the dremmel tool and when you show the mask after the white coat of spray paint the rest if the mask also looks like its got some dings and texture ad well. I was curious did you take the dremmel to the rest of the mask to get that texture or was it made with the tube of acrylic paint you showed around the 2 minute mark in the video? Again, awesome job on the mask

W.E. Bora… gotta question… what do you use to etch the surface of your clear blanks? Very high grit sandpaper I presume!? You still retain a lot of the clear! Also… if you don’t mind.. what’s a good rule of thumb for getting really great eye cuts! It’s my first round in having a go at drilling and cutting! I really like the clear blanks and want to retain as much of the clear as I can but still want the paint and primer to stick! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks buddy!
@WEBora3 жыл бұрын
I think I used Scotch Brite to scuff the surface. As for eye cuts, ya might want to flip the mask over and use a black sharpie to trace around the area where the PETG took shape from the vaccuum forming process. Try not to dremel past that line. Not a perfect solution but itll get you in the ballpark

@patharmon97605 жыл бұрын
Part 6 is the easiest of them all. I start with krylon "almond" and just work up to the color with super cheap craft paint. I use: pavement, nutmeg brown, khaki, and granite gray. Thin the hell out of them with water, put them on with a foam brush, and blot them off with a rag. I like to tell people it's only 1% painting, and 99% unpainting.
