Sometimes we need to crosscut at an angle the end of a board. But if we can a homemade table saw with homemade lift it is usually imposible to tilt the table saw disc. So we'll see how to make a table saw jig to crosscut the end of the boards at 45 degrees.
How to improve this 45 degrees crosscut jig: • How to improve the jig...

Sergio - Another great video. I originally built this jig for a single, simple cut, because I was being lazy and didn't feel like dragging out the Miter Saw cart, connecting up the various vacuum attachments and having to do "angle math." It worked great. However, I have found that it is quickly becoming a KEY jig for my shop and I have used it dozens of times over the past few days! I already have a plan to modify it a bit so that I can show my son how to use it. Thank you again for posting your videos - I learn something new with each one.

Thank you very much, Sergio, I watch your video some weeks ago and I build the same jig because It"s simple and easier to use than a compound miter saw. I just use two clamps because the parts to cut are longer and larger.

Great video I had to make a jig very similar to this few years ago when I was framing a custom bay extension off my living room. I also modified it for some custom moulding I had milled. These jigs are as nesscessity when cutting compound angles if accuracy is important.

Sergio Acuña Padin nah, I have the support bar, same as yours. Mine doesn't protrude past the 45 degree cut like yours though, which I like yours better.

You really need to cut 45° bevel off the sloped piece parallel to the saw table and move toe whole job to left 19mm so the pointed edge just reached the saw blade, otherwise your mitre cuts will be up in the air !!

You don't need the base plate at first place. Get rid of it, so you'll get at least 1 cm height improvement. You need a 45 degree cut to the bottom of the jig, as a result the slope of the jig meets the saw table.

Hi Sergio, thanks for another nice video. Can I make a suggestion, that if you were to cut a 45 degree angle on the edge of your base board, which rides along the blade, then extend your support piece to sit on the table, this should then give you an extra few millimetres of depth to your cut & as long as your work piece is square & cut to length, you will only have to rest it on your saw table top to clamp it. I hope this makes sense, as I drew a diagram, to explain, but don't know how to upload photos to the comments. Kind regards, Glyn

Thank you for your reply. I look forward to seeing what you have done. You would have gained a few millimetres, by doing what I suggested, but it would only have been the thickness of your Base. God bless you, Glyn

I give you credit for trying, but there are a few issues... 1. Once you improve your height of cut, you'll cut your stop block off. 2. This is only an issue that needs to be solved for your table saw, since 99.99% of all of the rest of the table saws in the world can tilt the blade 45 degrees.
@Tomwinters85

Couldn't you just turn the blade to 45 degrees?
@hj8607
@hj8607 5 жыл бұрын
you shimmed the second 45 board but failed to shift it's point (a virtual point that you created by lifting the sloped angle board with the shim) back towards the cut edge of your cross cut sled base . if you look at the gap that happens from the start to end of the cut on your angled surface it become obvious that it is not making accurate cuts because the edge of the cutting jig is no longer parallel to the blade , and is over cutting at the end of the cut .

Nice and simple as usual. Did you make your table saw yourself? And did you make this because the blade doesn't tilt? Because all commercial table saws I've seen have a tilting blade.
@rayanslim
@rayanslim 6 жыл бұрын
Great even if you have a tilting arbor. To get perfect 45 and then back to perfect 90 uses valuable shop time between cuts. This way you grab your jig and never mess with your blade
