Pam! You have no idea how watching these 3 videos have inspired me. I am dealing with several medical issues and these vids are going to get me to doing something in my art room where things make more sense in stead of between my ears. That's just a bad space to hang out right now. Hugs, Karen. P. S I live for the sound effects! Thank You!

I just found this video. Jumped out of the tub and ran to my craft table. I to have become an expert at camouflage for the same reason. Random abandonment crafting. Definitely my love of mixed media comes in handy. Tim Holtz now has an embossing folder like this. I am going to give it a try

love the "classic Pam move"...I think you missed one though. on the camera we can see the impression of the original spine, but when you re-creased at the end of the last video, it looks like you put the creases in 90 degrees to the original one..did anyone else see that?

I am enjoying this even though I noticed the spine change direction but, it's ok...it works and it's junk journaling... anything goes. You don't actually have to iron it. You can use the waxed paper and just rub your piece really good with it and it gives the same finish. I usually wad mine up into a loose ball and its easier to move around. I do this to journal pages that have been painted or decoupaged so they don't stick together.

After I saw that this thing can handle sewing, and how it looks like "leather" a bit, I was wondering, can you lay a sewing pattern over it and cut it out and sew it? I would imagine something for external wear like a jacket or a (trench) coat. I can't imagine it being to comfortable for a shirt, pants or dress or anything.

I tried this but sewing around edges with my sewing machine was a disaster. A build up of threads - don’t know why this happened. Added holes with the eyelit punch. unsure how I can punch middle of journal with eyelid punch. It’s not deep enough so unsure how to adapt just using 2 up 2 down.

I might suggest using an awl to punch the center holes then using a small hammer style eyelet setter to set the middle eyelets if desired :) The thread issue sounds like the tension is off between your upper thread and bobbin thread, Check to make sure they are the same thickness threads. Sometimes changing to the same or very similar threads will fix that bunching up/build up of threads :) You could also hand stitch an nice blanket stitch around the outside. That would be very pretty :) Or simply glue the edges together very well :) Hope these tips from the trenches help :)

Absolutely! A Little About This Journal: This journal is meant to be explored, written in, doodled in, a place to log events or hide the little mementos of a life. It can be a diary, a planner, an art journal an inspiration place. The possibilities are endless and you choose it’s destiny. Thoughts and ideas can be captured and expressed. Favorite quotes can be logged and sacred papers stored. It has sundry textures to entertain your senses, and treasures secretly nestled inside. It is a journey of discovery of this journal and maybe even into one’s self. It is a keepsake, an heirloom treasure, something to be gifted, passed down, shared, kept private. It has many tuck-spots and pockets and little hideaways to house your notions. Journaling cards, vintage stationary and mini-notepads abound to give even more writing and journaling spaces. This journal is truly one of a kind on this earth. No two are the same. Each one is made individually at a time by myself to truly focus on the nature and spirit of that particular journal. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this journal that has made it’s long and happy journey to you. May it bring you peace and joy.

Did you use the gesso to make the paper more sturdy? I’ve watching you. Thank You.Ones the paint and glue gunk up your sewing machine needle ?
@ThePaperOutpost
@ThePaperOutpost 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Connie, the gesso does make the paper more sturdy and it also glues down any loose edges :) Acetone helps remove glue build up on needles :) It happens infrequently but does happen :)

Can it really be so difficult for you to measure with a ruler? The time it took you to move the piece around several time is way more than the time it would take to lay a ruler across the top and bottom and mark the center. Puzzling 🤔

The Paper Outpost I’m a quilter so they are my best friend for that. I’ve never understood the junk journal thing until I saw your videos. I want to be able to write in mine so will adapt the pages to fit that purpose. Do you have a video on coffee dying paper? I’ve never done any paper dying

Had to Laugh because over the weekend I found a really nice Brother sewing machine for 19.99 at goodwill. I had been on the hunt for one for paper because I didn't want to use my good Pfaff for paper.

Can we just use card or paper instead of material? I don't have a sewing machine and my limit in the sewing department is sewing on a button, so a sewing machine would be of no use to me anyhoo LOL Thanks ~Karin~
@ThePaperOutpost
@ThePaperOutpost 4 жыл бұрын
Of course! :) I used material here on the inside because it helps strengthens your spine and helps prevent the signatures from tearing away from the spine. No sewing machine is necessary. You could really glue the material down, maybe make the material slightly smaller than the outside cover so it does not come apart at the edges ;) Everything is possible! :)

It would be a lot of work but on a smaller journal some hand stitching may work well too. I may have to invest in a sewing machine again. So far am just sewing button embellishments but adding some trim to pockets with embroidery thread has worked for me.
