I've always loved messing about with stationary, as kid I used to look at all the different colours and textures and make little books until I couldn't move for them ! Now as a very much older person I'm in my element as I make junk journals and sell them ! I love looking for old books in charity shops (when they are open !) and raiding everyones recycling bins and collecting the weird and wonderful in all things paper, so I love all the stuff you do, and the great thing it doesnt matter how many books I make or for how long there is always something new and exciting to learn. Thanks for all your informative and fun videos, I can watch for hours as you have such a lovely soft voice. x

The technique of glueing only in the miles and not the sides remembers me of Marta from Maremi small art, she does that also and then layers upon layers and the end result is always gorgeous. Love the pop of colour that the atlas pages are giving to the hole composition.

I absolutely love your junk journals! You make the whole process easy to follow and the end result is something beautiful from scraps. I’ve never made a junk journal before, but watching your creative process has inspired me. I would like to make a themed tropical journal for a friend in Florida but don’t have a clue where to find appropriate papers. How do I get started collecting the papers for any journal to begin with? Would it be from charity shops and second hand book shops? I’m not a reader of magazines so would have to start from scratch collecting the papers. Thanks for sharing your great techniques.

I enjoy hunting through books in charity shops ( so Monday is an exciting day for me!🤭) , but you may also wish to purchase the occasional digital paper if that works for you. I don't create digis myself, but I do use a few and they can complement other papers so that your own style really shines through. Have you looked on Etsy? Also try large 12 by 12 paper pads for tropical and brighter prints. Hope this helps!! Lovely to meet you 😁👍💜 (new video out tomorrow in which I make a simple Junk Journal start to finish). Joie 💐

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions. Yay, we can shop on Monday so I’ll head to the charity shops. I do have some scrapbook papers, but much prefer the vintage, older type papers, maps etc . I shall take a look on Etsy too. As I enjoy painting I have masses of mixed media art materials, so they will come in useful for sure. I shall greatly look forward to your next video! Thanks again Joie.
