In this video, I will describe how I made my kayak crate. I designed the crate to be visible, not too tall, and easy to clean at the end of the day. This design has a tray to secure tackle in the main compartment and store tackle used more often on the top tray within easy reach. I added 3 rod holders and a Scotty mount for my Scotty light pole. I secure the crate in my tank well of my Liquid Logic/Native Manta Ray 14 using bungee cords. If you have any questions on how to build or use this in your kayak, you can message comment below or message me on my Instagram at sweetwater_fishing. Thanks for watching.
Parts needed:
1. Two standard crates that are the same with handle holes above the line you want to cut. If the holes are lower, it may cause the tray to not sit flush on the crate.
2. Bungee cord
Optional:
1. Triple rod holder
2. Wood to screw though the crate to mount the rod holder. I used 1x3/4 pine strips
3. Scotty mount for light pole
4. Stainless bolts, washers, and nuts to attach the Scotty mount.
Tools needed:
1. Hacksaw
2. File or razor blade to smooth out the areas cut with the hacksaw.
3. Screwdriver to attach rod holders and Scotty mount.
