Yes this is the best way. No writing back to the ecu. I usually read the key IDs then generate a 4C chip and change the ID to one of the existing keys. This is a different technique of doing the same thing.

Hi. I don't understand how do you know that it didn't read the memory with some error? something similar to when you make a bad clamping. That xhorse portable reader has some kind of error checker in the reading?. thanks for your time

It will tell you if it’s read successfully. Just need to be very stable with your hands. Need to make sure all pins touching the chip.

Great video. I am somewhat familiar with an ar32 reader, for anyone that is familiar with that tool. Has anyone been able to ise the eeprom file dump from a similar ecu or honda immobilizer to clone a key with the toolmax?

Small difference in the chip I guess. But when you write the key I think the tool will prefer the A

In the US, our Corolla does not have a transponder on this year’s Even on the Camry, it’s usually on the V6 Models

Interesting, in most countries it’s like that only the US does not require that by law it’s optional. We have 2020 year models that does not have any transponders.

Just so the people are well informed, this is not a reflash he performed. The programming procedures for a reflash are not the same as this. A clone out is what he performed, and that is the easiest way to complete the task. To correctly do a reflash, you must flash an 8 - or 16-bit virginize file depending on ymm . Once that is done, you must learn the minimum requirement of keys for programming mode to exit. That is a proper reflash. Good video, though, explaining the basics of eeprom with xhorse line of tools.

Just a faster way to do this job, also you don’t need to deal with the learning of the key on some of these old models.. but you are definitely correct 👍🏼

He left out the most important part. If you don't write that new file with the programmed chip back onto the microchip, the car will not start.

It’s really not true. Car started without since we are cloning out on a super chip so there is no need to do write. Think about it it’s cloning out if I took a superchip and wrote exactly the information on it there is no need to write back information. You will need to write back the information if you choose to use a regular chip and not super chip.
