The D&D group I play with is currenting running Descent into Avernus, as head crafter I appreciate having resources like yours to help create!

That is awesome... Although my group weren't running through DiA they did get caught up in Elturel for a short while and plan to return to help the cause. This set was built for that stretch of their game and it was frustrating that by the time they got to it we were deep in lockdown so it was used over a live camera feed... as yet they haven't returned there to play on the physical terrain! I reckon that they will be on it by the summer of this year though ! Glad that you enjoyed it :)

@@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles I made something similar with lava on a much smaller scale recently but I used painted egg shell for the partly solidified bits on the surface of the lava. You have to lift a few pieces away with tweezers when you press it down into the pva but it gives some really nice natural shapes with some gnarly cracks in between.

i just discovered your videos and im really enjoying your explanations and your technique! for those of us more classically trained nerds this is a real treat! as a sort-of artist myself i like your attention to the process and physicality of the creation and not just the final result. bravo! also, i live in and grew up in hawaii where as a child i played in the lava fields (we used to dip pennies into the flow with water pump pliers then rapidly polish the basalt and sell them to tourists for $10 a pop... good times! until the national park service caught on....) when you speak of the glow of the magma you have NO idea... im going to do mine as a resin sheet so i can light it from below. well done on the cooling bits of crust but they do tend to circle around eddies in the flow. at least ours does.

Hey, I've looked everywhere to find the right kind of lava terrain on youtube and could never find it untill this one. Love the way it is modular and looks amazing. I did manage to get my hands on XPS foam and would love to know the measurements of each piece since I do not really know what I want to go for yet, but your dimensions look really great for a varied table everytime.
@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles3 жыл бұрын
Well I am glad that it’s the perfect fit for your needs 😀. I worked it out that if I did 15 10”x20” tiles in total I could lay out a 5 tile by 3 tile set up giving me 50-60” play area. I have plans for some additional tiles to suit other purposes but they have worked out extremely versatile at this dimension for sure… Don’t forget to also check the scatter terrain follow up episode for some crazy shenanigans to stick on these tiles 😂. Hope that works out for you 👍
@rorgier103 жыл бұрын
@@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles I have seen the other scatter terrain videos aswell and can't wait to see more! Also started with the project now and in full swing, just hit a small roadblock at the moment. Just used the plaster filler to make the textured rocks with some actual small rocks in there, it is looking fabulous, but the rocks are not that well sticking to the boards. with minimal use some of them come loose very easily. Do you have some recommendations for fixing this? I think PVA might work, but for me that is only aivalable in small bottles and the cost for them goed up quite high very quickly if I need to also seal my rocks and plaster. Wish I could send some progress pictures, but youtube isn't build for that.
@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles3 жыл бұрын
@@rorgier10 great to hear that you’re getting it done! Another often overlooked method of adhesive on a broad area (if you can’t get pva in quantity which would be my first choice) is cheap hairspray… you have to be pretty generous with it, allow it dry and possibly apply subsequent layers. It dries pretty quick, I recommend do it outside and with the cheapest hairspray you can find! The plaster itself should only require water to make a paste with. Another option is acrylic caulk which you can thin just a little with water, or use neat… you often find these tubes in bargain stores that have a little diy section!… you can also pm some progress shots on discord if you use that abscnth#0766 👍
