Just bought a $200 TASCAM DR10L lav recorder and mic... of course as soon as I do, all my recommendations are videos about how boom and shotgun mics are way better. I don’t disagree! That brightness made me pretty regretful. But omg, Alex! This video has been so helpful in calming my nerves. Thank you! (Also really want fabfilter now!). Great, fast, simple explanation and demonstration. I wish you went into a bit more detail about those unpleasant frequencies because I’m not too sure what to listen for, but thank you so much!!

Timely video! Recently received the new Rode Lavalier Go and the mic has a lot of "boxy" mid-range with little-to-no low/high end. EQ'ing helps fix that, but what I never thought of adding was the touch of reverb you mentioned. Will def give that a try.

This video is extremely helpful, thank you so much! I know it'll take me a while to get the hang of it, but your tip of isolating the "boxy" and other sounds is helping me a lot. I'm a newb with this, and I feel a little less like I'm just randomly making adjustments and seeing what works now. Thanks again!
