Hey thanks for subbing. Yes this basic skull cap can be made into just about any style Viking, Greek, Roman, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Medieval whatever you can imagine and while it might not be entirely accurate historically it is a very versatile design.

you show how you measured the length and width but you didn't show how you measured the cutout portion, how did you come up with that? is it arbitrary could you make it any such size so long as it is symmetrical or do you have a rule of thumb to go by? thanks

Hey, thanks for subbing. If you want a one piece design with thick leather you will need to have one or two cut away sections or even folds that are riveted together. Also, you could make your spartan helmet with two symmetrical pieces connected with a strip of leather down the middle to give the illusion of one piece.

Why not use inflatable lift bags or very thick rubber bladder covered in canvas under high pressure inside your metal helmet form.you could also purchase used fire helmet head forms its just the skull cap but they work but youll need a male and female set of helmet forms set the female into a hydraulic press and the male onto the ram then hand pump it closed
