Nice job of simple engineering! I absolutely love the simplicity of your design! Thank you for sharing! I was looking for an easy way to thin down a leather strap. I looked at quite a few other designs people came up with, but it would take several hours to build one like theirs. You have came to my rescue with this! Thanks much! I hope you continue to try coming up with other inventions!

This help me understand the simple mechanics involved, now it's not that hard to engineer a dedicated block which is more permanent.

Man! Why didn't I think this up on my own? I figured out using a razor blade and clamps, but didn't think up making a ramp in the board. Great stuff! Thanks!

YOU SOLVED THE MILLION DOLLAR PROBLEM. Now I can split few leather straps for my watch strap work without spending 1000 bucks on a splitter.

Awesome idea. I relace baseball gloves and sometimes need to split the lace that goes in the palm and the in the finger hole in the back. Brilliant idea.

I was thinking of making one similar with a longer, thinner channel with a more shallow slope. I also wanted metal or wood T channels on either side and the length of the grove. They would have been used to stabilize the blade. Where you are pulling away from the board, I was thinking of pulling into the board. Anyway nice, simple concept and much less expensive. Donald

Be careful pushing toward a sharp blade with your fingers. Use pliers to start it. I learned the hard way. Once it’s thru you can safely pull.

Now if only you could patent this idea. My dad built all kinds of things and then you'd see other people a year later using his idea everywhere. It's simple and it works great and no one else thought of it. Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself Atta Boy!! You don't hear it often enough! You get one from me too! Atta Boy! Nice thinking!

Sorry to burst your bubble but I've been using this idea for 20 years in my private workshop but mine is a wooden spoke shaver screwed to the side of my bench, I can split various thickness by putting steel nuts under the blade to raise it
