Hi Tammy. Great video. I’m glad I’ve had some free time to tune in more than usual. Not all citruses are phototoxic, it depends on the extraction method and the part of the plant that is used. Unfortunately, lemon is one of those citrus oils that is phototoxic. I love anything lemon though. Yum!

hey Lissa! I'm glad you got to watch! Someone had mentioned at a very low % it may not be a problem - what do you think?? It makes me a bit nervous but I want the scents to be somewhat consistent. I made a face wash - love it, but I decided to get all fancy and buy turmeric essential oil 😣GROSS!!! LOL I even dropped the % to 0.22% - it's better, with my upping my lemon and adding some lavender eo's , but no loving that at all 😂

I love that you test and experiment with Substitute ingredients. Lemon is phototoxic, but I don't think you use enough that that is an issue, unless someone is super skin sensitive. Folks that are skin sensitive like that read the labels and are careful shoppers, like my hubby. Can't wait to see how you do with the Bamboo Powder. Cheers 👍🤗💕

From my personal experience with the Brambleberry shea based butters, yes it’s the same as shea in a recipe. ❤😊 I have some of their shea based lavender butter. I made a mistake of not reading the details about their aloe butter… I had to give it to my kids, because it was coconut oil based.

Looks like an amazing face scrub:) Phototoxic essential oils are considered safe for use in wash off products. So no issue with using lemon essential oil at it’s appropriate usage rate in things like face washes, scrubs or soaps.

Looks like a lovely scrub ❤ thanks for the video! Can't wait to see the others coming! If you look at the ingredients in the bramble berry scrub, you can probably make it yourself. I have turmeric in olive oil right now, but you can infuse it in any oil then infused that in Shea butter. But that just adds another step. I'm always looking for ways to save money, I'm pretty broke though! LOL anyway have a great week!

hey Melissa! I don't know why I didn't just infuse my own shea...that was dumb lol - from now on I think I will I did an olive oil infusion for the other products - they have almost a neon yellow color - wow, it does not take much🤓😆 I'm back on my saving money kick - last year I totally got carried away with my spending again. My husband keeps telling me I worked hard for it do what I want with it but I want it to mean something in the end. And I'll never be able to go part time at work if I just spend willy nilly. My goad by the end of the year - maybe LOL

well, I suppose it is more harsh than some exfoliants and less than others - sugar is the standard go-to I think. It is cheap and easy to come by that is for sure. Bamboo Stem Powder is def more expensive but it is more gentle (although I say that from what I heard, I haven't tried it yet). Plus the package I bought was small, I would only be able to make a pretty small batch with it so it will probably not be something I carry all the time.
