Dude, this video is awesome. No long, unnecessary intro. Short sentences describing the procedure. No narcissistic, snobby, cinematographic edition with self centered narrative. Is perfect. Goes straight to the point. You earned yourself a subscriber.

Fully agree with you. Many youtubers don't realize that if they cut out their jabber it would help more.

A good jig idea. When I was 8 (52 years ago), I was my fathers' timber sitter. I would help him on building projects at home and he would teach me tips and stuff. Every thing he taught me about working with timber, I still use today. He showed me how to hold the saw with my forefinger aligned with the direction of the saw for accuracy...and to draw 2 lines and cut between them. It all works. I have power tools now but still have the saws he used and I sharpen and set them myself. There is a certain satisfaction I get from using hand tools.

Thank you so much! All I've got is a handsaw and a burning desire to build. A jig is so helpful.

Thank you!, this is the most useful and practical video I've ever watched on how to cut straight. Always had a problem cutting materials, after watching this video it made everything so easy that I was able to create 2 small cabinets just using a handsaw and hammer.

Very nice video and great idea. This is very useful for both myself and many others. However, I'd like to mention that it's possible to learn to saw straight lines (even at any angle in two directions); Paul Sellers is often using hand saws to saw straight lines. One technique to make 90° cuts, is to use the saw blade as a mirror, so you see the reflection of the board being 'straight' when comparing to the actual board. This requires a little practice, but you'll soon get so experienced that you can do it. Note: If you're going to make a jig like in this video, a MDF board usually have straight edges, which are square (90°) to eachother. You can then cut two sides of the MDF-board first and use those two sides for guiding the saw (this will likely ruin the straightness of the MDF, but you can make the MDF straight by using your new guide).

Nice video, easy and good explanation. Would you have a tip to cut at a non-common angle (lets say 30 degrees) ? (To create a sort of bevel)

Watched my grandpa make 6 to 8 foot cuts with a hand saw , and the reason for the " bim " on the saw , guess I'm the only one to ever witness its use/reason . I've heard a handful of uses for it but nothing even close to 8 foot straight cuts.
