"Lean" is a slang term for promethazine or codeine based narcotic pain reliever/cough syrup. The kids back in the day were mixing it with sprite, drinking it recreationally.

i know this is your recipe, not mine... but personally i think this should have been done in a bigger pan so you can sauté the cabbage for a bit in the buttered oil before adding the chicken broth.... THEN cook it down. yes, of course the lid will allow it to cook down but the buttered oil sauté will impart a nice flavor that seems to have been missed in the very small pan. most of you will never do this... although it literally only takes a couple of extra minutes to prep it this way but as long as we are getting technical... each quarter should be divided into two pieces... you will will be able to see where to divide it because the core leaves are thicker. the core half that you divided should then be cut and added first since it will take a bit longer for them to soften... then you can continue to cut up the outer portions that you divided and add them. If you add them all at once... the more delicate outer layers will over cook and lose their texture before the thicker inner layers can thoroughly cook... much like a chef would add the broccoli stems before adding flowered tops. still her recipe with a few tweaks to the prep.

Excellent idea. Thanks for sharing :)
@seacoastview72532 жыл бұрын
@@AnnasKitchenAndStitchin Thank you, Anna. i made your southern boiled cabbage recipe last night and it's very delicious. well done. i do have to admit, by cooking the core for a few minutes prior to adding the outer sections... even the more delicate outer leaves still had a nice texture and weren't overcooked... but your recipe is excellent and i highly recommend it! Cabbage is quite often overlooked as a side dish but Anna's recipe will get your family to love it!

Do you wash your cabbage?
@theblackdog23993 жыл бұрын
I remove the top layer of leaves and then rinse the hold head under luke warm water. Then I simply cut the head of cabbage into one inch by one inch cubes. Finally, I use a bench scraper to help me scoop up the cabbage to put into a bowl.
