We're cabbage farmers. We fry cabbage, chop, onions, chop garlic, in a big fry pan, add maybe 1/8 cup of water, cover n let the magic happen, no fail. It browns as the sugar from the cabbage caramelized. Devour wit smashed taters n chops or sausages.

Something weird happened when I turned 45 . I began enjoying vegetables that I used to loathe . Egg plant , cauliflower , broccoli and cabbage were suddenly high on my list .I like lightly steamed cabbage and carrots with a little salt and pepper aside my chicken teriyaki as much as the chicken . That was never even close to being true before . Do you thinkits just boredom with what I ate exclusively for so many years or is it true , like they say , that tastes change with age ?

Well done. This is called Bubble'n'Squeak and Europe and Australia ate it all through WW2 because there was no meat. You can cook it in one pot too, if you're smart, because my Grandmother had to watch the fuel rationing. I added more fresh garlic (as I really like garlic), about half a teaspoon of ginger powder and onion powder and 1 small grated carrot. End result: mediocre. I love cabbage but the other person who lives, loves and dines with me does not. I made this recipe and I had to fight to get my share because he really loved the recipe. Thank you.

Hey! This is what we call egg fu yung here. Good stuff. 😋 Edit - you can add meat to the pancake as well or make a basic sauce with soy, water, starch ect... add cooked meat and or vegetables to that sauce, thicken and serve on top. Rice of course is optional... if there's something wrong with you that is! 🤣
