Really nice idea. I would probably trace the heart, stitch, and then cut it out. Sew much easier for smaller projects.

I made heart ornaments for Christmas trees and just figured out this year just what you said. It is easier to decorate or piece the heart before cutting it out, if you can.

Yes, I would do it like that, too.🥰

Trace the heart, sew it and THEN cut it out - much easier. However what a sweet idea!

What a lovely idea! Hints, sew before you cut out. On both pieces before sewing together, stay stitch along the opening. It gives you a nice guide for stitching closed, and stops the stretch on biased edges. Thank you “Sewing With Nancy”, for that tip.

I've been wondering how to honor my daughter's memory. (She passed away suddenly just after Thanksgiving 2022) Especially because there is no place to go to pray, & put flower's for her. (Her husband cremated her). I've put some of her pictures together in a nice spot, with a few gifts she gave me. I'll make a remembrance heart for both her, & my mother on a tree there. I'll add hearts for living relatives, me, my brother's, niece's, my son, his wife, & my 2 grandsons, ect...This makes my heart 💔 will feel better. I also could engrave my daughter's information on our large family monument, under her Gramo's name. (She never out grew calling her Grandmother Gramo). My daughter was only 37 years old. This is a great way to include them in on a family Remembrance Heart Tree. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💔🥲

Jenny, you will be in my prayers. That sounds like it could be a very healing project for you. I might even consider a project as such🥰 ✝️🙏🏻❤️😀

So sorry for your loss. I have another suggestion for you. Buy some of the print to sew or iron on paper and do some of your favorite pictures of the person.

I'd suggest stitching in the ribbon for hanging while stitching together the front and back. That way it'll be enclosed in the seam and the heart can be the same front and back

Lovely idea...better thsan chocolates for the waist and reduces the stash! Just a suggestion if you tease out the stuffing (lofting) before filling the heart it avoids lumps forming and you get a smoother effect.

You talk about getting a nice shape by sewing a tiny seam allowance, But….. then you mess the shape up badly while stitching them closed. You’d be better off using a larger seam allowance, which would allow you to stitch the opening closed, after stuffing, without destroying the heart shape.
