I really enjoy your channel and Herons Bonsai from Peter Chan. The both of you have a very unique style of teaching Bonsai for beginners. And I also appreciate that one can learn more from you than just about trees and plants - one can find so many analogies in your words. Your kind of storytelling is very relaxing! 👍

I understand and agree to initially put them in a deep pot verses shallow during first grouping/forrest arrangement. Like the minimum of 9 to start. Surprised you didn’t use your bonsai mix soil. Got to try that screen aspect. Looking forward to followup videos on this one. Thank you.

I just started the beginnings of a beach Forest planning of 13 trees the tallest being about 20 inches tall they have really decent branching and secondary branching but the problem was when I got them they had roots that were very high so I had to trim down all the The Roots so that the trees will not be able to stand primarily on their own so I planted them in 5 in containers and have them growing individually for this season so that I can get a decent amount of roots before I plant them together but I am excited for this group is also give more ramification on the branching this season as well as I have them lined up in the containers in the order of how I'm going to plant them as a planting so I will clip and grow them accordingly to how they will be planted in the forest I can't wait to get them all together next year

Great making a mini forest to show people with not that much room to grow a forest. Great for the elderly to do also.

Great to see you work with smaller trees Milton, the Forrest will be something special in time, they do as you say forest should be arranged with odd numbers so 9 is ideal, I agree a deeper pot to start off with will benefit the trees. A method I use is if a tree is in a very shallow pot for a long time it can become a little weak so I will repot them into a deeper pot for at least one year, the tree will improve a great deal then can be replanted into a shallow pot again if the tree will be displayed.

Thanks Milton, enjoying your bonsai’s journey. Please help. I have two peach trees, at least 15 years old and about 1.5 metres tall and metre wide. I had planted them in my garden. Is it possible to make a bonsai out of them? They’re healthy and doing ok. Don’t know if they are “dwarfs”??? How do I go about it? Would appreciate your advice. 🙏🙏🙏🐝

Mr I enjoy your videos. I live in Cincinnati Ohio. I can’t afford that expensive bonsai soil. Do you have a recipe for making bonsai soil
@mattbrennan64710 ай бұрын
Equal parts perlite,cactus soil, and Safty Sorb (available in ant Tractor Supply Store) Good luck 👍🏻
@garystaud502210 ай бұрын
Fellow Cincinnatian. I also use SafeTSorb, sifted to remove the fines. I like to use pumice instead of perlite, and Reptile bark (Petsmart) for the organic. I generally use a 40:40:20 blend, respectively

I understand the concept of the deep pot if you’re going for faster growth and root fusion of the forest . But if you’re going to move it into a larger shallower pot next year and rearrange the trees I don’t see the logic. Could you please explain? Thanks.
