You make everything you do look so effortless. I don't think anyone knows how much engineering & technique goes into anything a floral designer creates. I was so pleased that you used the buds! Many florists would find that painstaking & time-consuming. The attention is in the details. Exquisite.

Oh John, that made me laugh out loud when i saw Yanis (i hope i spelt that correctly?) with his floral circlet on his head, he looked very pretty !!!...LOL. 🤣🤣. As usual i loved the video, I'm really learning a lot more from watching your tutorials. You see, you told me yesterday that you've been in the Floristry trade for 30 years, and i have been in the baking business for 30 years (I've only ever worked from home) but I've made and decorated cakes for all that time and don't get me wrong, i shall still do cakes for family and friends but i shall be 60 years old in June and it's made me feel that i just wanted to try something different !!!...so i decided to do an online diploma in Floristry, the course was brilliant and I'm proud to say that i passed it first time. So that's why I'm here sending you this message. (And i hope that's ok with you?!.) I have made millions of sugar flowers over the years and have put those into sprays (they are a pain in the bum to put together as they are so delicate) ha ha ha!!!...I'm sure that real fresh flowers and silk ones will be much easier !!!..take care thanks for all of your help and tips of your wonderful talent and trade. Xxx 😊😃🤣😍💐🌸💮🏵🌹🥀🌺🌼🌻🌷⚘🌱🌴🌾🌿☘🍀🍁🐝🐞

I wonder how you put the ribbon into the wire? did you also put wire on the ribbon before attach it to the main wire?

Yes - the bow was made with two long tails and then secured with a wire around the centre. This unit was then taped onto the main wire - so ribbon stem wire onto the main headless stem wire. 😀🌼

You have such amazing informative videos! I've been watching a lot of them over the past couple of days. I am thinking I want to do all of my flowers for my wedding in july his year. I am not sure if that's the best idea though, I am afraid that they will not stay alive in the heat and I won't have enough time to do them the day of. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you so much for putting out such great content, you make it look very easy!
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Whereabouts are you based? If you are in a hot country then it’s much more problematic Jed Ing flowers fresh, but in temperate climates this isn’t such a problem. I think it’s best to think how you want your day to be - if you are a very hands on person and have a few helpers then why not - but if it’s all new to you and your not quite confident then I would suggest leaving some or all of the elements to someone else. You do want to enjoy the day, and people tend to underestimate the logistics and time required. I would write a list of what you need flower wise and then decide what could be made the day or two before, and what really is on the day. List the must haves and the would-be-nice pieces. Don’t forget tables and cake flowers. It can all add up to a bit of work. But if you can bake a cake or make crafty things then you have the skill set - and you can try out a few test go pieces now to see if it works out! Better to try early and decide yes or no! But priority number one is enjoy the day, then you have a sliding scale from there, right up to doing it all! Good luck with your flowery journey - and having a really special day 🌼🙋🏼♂️
@vanessaticra4662 жыл бұрын
@@FlowerJoos I am from North Carolina. I would like to think I am a little bit crafty, and yes I do have quite a few people to help me with everything! I will definitely try doing it beforehand to see how it would come together. I even thought about going to the venue and setting up a table in advance to see if I like the way it looks. Thank you so much for your advice!

You are so fast with taping! There is real skill and experience behind that! Can I ask about your plastic tape? All I can ever find is the waxed tape that gets my fingers sticky and is hard to work with. Is there a brand name for the plastic one?
@FlowerJoos4 жыл бұрын
Monika Boston thank you! I have used both, with the paper versions being the ones that have been around the longest. The plastic version is a parafilm - smithers oasis do it in the U.K. , so probably elsewhere as well. It is good as you don’t get sticky, so ideal if you have a lot to wire. There used to be a brand called guttaperca - I think the parafilm is better. 😀

How many days in advance should I make this before the wedding day and how can i store it to ensure the flower from wilting or dying? Thank you
@FlowerJoos6 жыл бұрын
Chen Ba I would either make this on the day, or in the afternoon or the evening before - just so it is nice and fresh. Ultimately the flowers are out of water so you don’t want to make it too early. To store you can mist with fine water and cover with damp tissue, then p,ace in a cool place. You don’t want it to dry out, but don’t have it wet either.
@wenbingseit72154 жыл бұрын
do i spray just normal tap water on it, and put them in a zip lock band into the fridge?
@FlowerJoos4 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as the fridge isn’t too cold. But just pop in a cardboard lid, give it a mist and over with a bit of light plastic is fine as well. I would mist it rather than spray. So it is damp but not wet with droplets - these might mark some flowers . 😀🙋🏼♂️

Hi John, What is the size of the crown? Would that fit for a 9 year old?
@FlowerJoos4 жыл бұрын
Lisa Widjaja you can make it to fit the size of a specific head - just take some thin ribbon and make a measurement around the head, then use this as a guide when making the crown. I normally tape the ribbon flat to the workbench in front of me. Remember to leave some none flowered wire each end to join the ends together. 😀
@windowtospirit3 жыл бұрын
Im just wondering how long the flowers will last. If made the day before needed would they last if put in the fridge?
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can make it the afternoon before - just mist it , lightly cover it and put somewhere cool - so a fridge is ok as long as not too cold. Just be sure all materials are well conditioned before putting it together. 😀🌼
@windowtospirit3 жыл бұрын
@@FlowerJoos how do you condition flowers
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
@@windowtospirit you need to strip any leaves that will be under water - cut a good couple of inches of the stem ends and place into deep water - and leave them to drink and rehydrate overnight. You can add flower food to the water also - a general one or specific type depending on your flowers , and dilute as per the instructions . You just want the flowers to be nice and turgid - full of water and refreshed from transport before using. 😀🙋🏼♂️

Helen Ngo for the rose wires we use .28 for the thinnest rose wire, and .26 gauge for the slightly firmer rose wire, and .22 for the green thicker wire. Though I find it’s hard to get wire sometimes and you have to work with what you have, so it’s good to get a feel for what works.😀
