Hi John, a beautiful demonstration using the orchids which made the technique so easy to see. Another useful tip of course is using a damp cloth, which I hadn't thought of before, but makes sense. I did wonder what the crown would look like at the end and was surprised, it's lovely. Thanks for reminding us of the wiring techniques you've used. Another brilliant video, thank you 🙂

As I watched this video, it brought back memories of when I lived in Panama. (Better tell you, I'm 76 years old.) During one of our luaus for a school event, I made a CROWN of colorful flowers for the Queen of the Luau and I cannot believe that I DID IT RIGHT!!! I did EVERYTHING you just did!!! I'm ecstatic!!! I actually didn't know what I was doing and I followed your work down to the letter!!! I guess that somewhere in my HEAD (not much there now, LOL LOL) I have the right instructions on how to make a headdress out of flowers!!! Thanks for this one, John. It's a keeper and I'm sharing it with my friends!

George Garcia thank you! It’s quite similar for some floral cake decor - so maybe a cross over there? Thank you for sharing the story - thank you for sharing 😀🙋🏼♂️

I'm on part 2 of my diploma at college, havent really learned how to wire flowers yet, apart from Gerberas, I cannot wait to make something as pretty as this. Especially for the spring!

woollen hat thank you - lots of possibilities with flowers in springtime. Some people don’t like wiring but it’s worth learning, always handy to know.

Wow, great vid packed with information! Really appreciate it. I'm apprenticing in the states ( year 3) and I make these nearly every weekend. Looking forward to incorporating your techniques into my work. Right now we use a taped single straight wire and plain stems, only certain things wired, and use bullion wire because it's strong but light. Ribbon closure is very common here because we don't customize the fit-- not every member of the bridal party gives their measurements reliably. Looking forward to trying your techniques this weekend!

Christen Mitchell thank you for commenting and watching 😀 yes, in the commercial world it’s not possible to wire and tape all the materials, it just takes too long. The end effect is the important thing.

Hi John, thats gorgeous, you make things look so easy! I'm making flower girl headdresses for my daughters wedding, I'm going need plenty of practice 1st as never made one before! Is there a certain weight wire that you use to attach flowers or doesn't it matter? 😊
@FlowerJoos4 жыл бұрын
Linda Morgan .22 for the green wire and .28 for the very fine rose wire - but you could have .26 as a slightly thicker rise wire - and .24 fi4 tg3 stub wire. I generally go by the ‘feel’ of the wire. But yes, worth a couple of practise sessions 😀

How long do the orchids last on the headpiece? Thanks for the video! Exactly what i needed ❤
@FlowerJoos7 ай бұрын
With any work such as buttonholes, corsages or headdress then it’s best to make them on the day required or the afternoon before as essentially they are out of water. The orchids are a good lasting flower though. Just condition them well with a good drink beforehand 😊

I needed this. Thank you. Question tho. What gauge of wire are u using to make the the flower crown?
@FlowerJoos2 жыл бұрын
The thinnest rose wire is .28 and the slightly thicker one is .26. The green wire is .22 Hope that helps! 😀🙋🏼♂️
