Really nice straight forward tutorial, I'll have to try this one!

Try moving the gate block in between the amp and cab and set the gate source to what input you're on, "input 1".. Stacking two gates before the amp sucks some tone out in my experience. The input block gate is awesome on its own before the amp.

Thanks for the advice! I'm fairly new to gates so I will try this out.

I love the tone tutorial content. Youre an amazing guitar player. Keep these coming. I own an fm3 as well and am always chasing new tones especially for modern metal 7 string kinds of music so this was a very helpful starting point to tweak from.

if you feel like it, try out a multiband compressor block after the amp/cab to control chugs even more (basically the andy sneap trick to control mud/boomy low mids build up) i got a video on that sort of setup and the sidechain gate if you want to check I out, +1 to the comment above on that style gate setup, makes things super tight I just turn off gates for lead style tones I'm yet to try a compressor on heavy tones otherwise , I'll give that a whirl, cheers

I couldn't agree more. The multi-band compressor is something I discovered years back when I used more plugins and added in OTT at the end of things and BAM! I found the missing element I'd been needing to achieve the tones I wanted.

Nice to see some new videos on Fractal FM3, especially metal ones! I’m considering buying one but first I have to sell my Marshall to afford 😅 I have one question: If you were to amplify your guitar, a gig situation maybe, would you rather go for something like Laney LFR or power amp and cab? Great tones, Keep em’ comming!!

Thanks so much for the comment! I use FRFR speakers e.g. Laney LFR. Most of the time at a venue with a PA, I just go DI into front of house and use the wedges provided. Its super simple and it doesn't require you to lug a cab around.

You won't regret it for a second.

Good Example. But one question - why you use 2x12 Cab? Why not 4x12?
@matthewmillerguitar4 ай бұрын
The Zilla 2x12 cabs have a much punchier and crispier tight sound that you can't really get out of a 4x12. This is because 2x12 cabs are smaller so have less resonance inside the cab = less low end. It's generally better to avoid having to artificially take out low end, if you don't have to. Also fractal didnt have any zilla 4x12 irs that i could find.

I don't understand the use of gate in fm3, the input has a noise gate - so it seems useless/ not needed. Please let me know if I'm wrong here.

Honestly not too sure, but I did notice a difference in threshold for some reason when I bypassed it/enabled it. And I prefer bypassing the gate rather than creating multiple input channels otherwise it gets a bit confusing (if the gate takes effect).
