Interesting. I'll have to try a latte. I've been using a Moka pot for about a year to make Americanos for my girlfriend and me and over time I've come to break all the rules but it still makes the best cup of coffee I've ever had. I grind fairly fine, use cold water, burner on high until it starts to bubble loudly. Take it off, don't cool it, mix and pour and dilute with some hot water and of course some cream. I do use soap as you recommend but don't bother drying. Delicious. Evidently the Moka is a very forgiving tool. Thanks for the video. Not enough people know what a great coffee maker it is. Subscribed.

I switched up and bought a $30 electric moka pot and a $18 cordless milk frother with three temp settings and i couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Really the electric milk frother is the bomb and the quality of the froth is top notch, you can see the difference in the level of froth on the different temp settings of hot, hotter and cold. When it comes to a good latte having your cream frothed exactly to your preference just fine tunes your craft. As always enjoy yourself

A French press can also be used as a milk frother. Pour in 150 degree milk and pump a few times.
@homemadeedition
@homemadeedition 3 жыл бұрын
True, although they aren't designed to be rapidly pumped like that and can often be damaged rather easily by using them in that way.

And, I know from experience, there are royal pain to clean afterwards. I usually just rinse my French press but if very goes into it I got to disassemble every last part and wash thoroughly. Oh, and I don't have a dishwasher.

Absolutely true. I was in Padua, Italy and asked for a latte in my hotel and thought it would be coffee and milk but what arrived was warm frothed milk. So the latte where you think It will be coffee and milk. But after my Experience that is really an American thing lol. The rest of the time in Italy I ordered cappuccino or asked for Caffe au Latte. Italy has the best coffee ever!!!

@@pkerry12 haha, it doesn’t surprise me, yes, they don’t understand it here in the US. At least from my experience. I would be annoyed too especially if you were expecting frothed or warm milk. Do you use a Moka pot? I really love using mine. I even order my coffee from Brooklyn NY from D’Amico because they roast their coffee in small batches. Super fresh vs. the canned kind. Stay safe out there

Hi 😊 Watched a few of your coffee videos now, thank you 🙏 Appreciate people who take the time to share their personal experiences!! I'm trying to decide on the size of Moka Pot I need. Your the first person I've seen that mentions the amount of coffee:water ratio. My current French press method uses 20gm coffee to 400ml water so your Moka Pot size seems almost ideal. What size or how many cups is your Moka pot 🤔😊 Thanks again 🙏
@homemadeedition
@homemadeedition 3 жыл бұрын
So, I believe it's what Bialetti calls a 6 cup size here in the USA. (My Moka Pot is actually an off brand, not a Bialetti) To be clear, the word cup means "servings" not a proper US 1 cup measurement. You're going to get a max output somewhere in the neighborhood of 300ml of brewed coffee if you fill it all the way and brew it all the way. Anything else I can help you with?

It might sound weird, but the whole process of the Moka pot - however difficult or frustrating it may be - is quite attractive to me! My French Press is too boring, so I might just get a Moka pot 😅
@homemadeedition
@homemadeedition 3 жыл бұрын
If you get a grind size dialed and practice your workflow, it's not frustrating at all. Obviously, some people don't care for the extra steps and work involved in using a Moka Pot but I'm in the same boat as you - that's all part of what makes it enjoyable!

@Peter_Loftus, I think he thought you were sincere, which is rather an unfortunate thing to do to a stranger seeking education. Extremely childish. But I do hope you realize that every snarky, sarcastic or even vindictively vitriolic comment you leave actually promotes my channel and boosts it within the KZbin algorithm making it easier to find and increasing the chances of this channel becoming huge. But it also makes you look pathetic so you might want to consider being nice for a change.

I got an electric frother that gets the milk nice and whipped and CLAIMS to get it to 150 degrees Fahrenheit but seems to make the latte less hot than it should be when combining with moka brewed coffee. Even with a pack of sugar added , the end result is rather bland tasting. I’m using. Bialettis own brand of bagged coffee though so maybe the next step is get a grinder and try it with freshly ground coffee
@homemadeedition
@homemadeedition 3 жыл бұрын
I think that may be part of it, using pre-ground coffee. Cutting off the brew part way through is also going to give you stronger coffee. I've been thinking that want to revisit brewing with a moka pot in another video as lI've just learned about an improved brewing method that is supposed to give much much stronger coffee.

Bought a Moka Pot. Can't seem to get a nice espresso out of it. Its a wee bitter and tastes more like old fashioned percolated coffee. What am I doing wrong?
@homemadeedition
@homemadeedition 2 жыл бұрын
I think, to be perfectly honest, your expectation is too high for what a Moka Pot is actually capable of producing. It will never taste like real espresso because it's operating with 1/10 of the pressure of a true espresso system. But in order to maximize its capability I would recommend checking out the wired gourmets KZbin channel. He seems to have dialed in the best way to brew with a moka pot. Good luck!
