Hands down the most thorough tutorial on the monkey fist. Thank you for this! I’ve definitely seen them all (twice) and this one is without a doubt the best.

Best monkey fist tut. Ive seen. I finaly get the tightening😊 now i just have to learn how to use it 😅I've heard that the length of the monkey fist should be the same length as your arm. From the palm of your hand to the shoulders. Dont know if its true, but he Seem to know what he was doing haha
@sensei-carlos

Yes the tightening is what ppl don’t explain enough, take it slow, and do as many rounds of tightening as possible with out doing any over tightening, also, length of you arm palm to shoulder is about right, I have a couple videos showing how to use them, should I make a video like that with my martial arts back ground?

If your you up for it, then it would real cool. Not alot of video showing the art of “whatever art” it is, i dont know. You Said that its alot like kusarigamo, but thar has a metal piece in each end. But it would be awesome if you show some moves, and trainning exesize

Oh wow! 😯 I appreciate that so much! Thank you 🙏🏽 I will be making another FULL Tutorial this weekend for a “Celtic Slammer” because I have some Custom Orders for 2 of them, and there aren’t much out there for it, as well as some more self defense lanyard tutorials how to use them based off my Martial Arts Background! Again! Thank you so much for the compliment! Considering subscribing if you truly caught value! 🙏🏽

Thanks. Managed to tighten a pretty perfect monkey fist🧶(..for 1st attempt) as the video ended. Found paracord from my cable sleeving days about 10 years ago and had way too big ball bearings and marbles with my slingshot, made a jig with chopsticks🥢 and the rest was you and this great tutorial

Very nice tutorial! Question: have you tried using a large crochet hook to help your tightening process? It looks to me that it might be easier to use, rather than the scissors....

When I tighten to hard it does distort my fist and my marble falls out, I sure hope I can get this to work
@sensei-carlos
@sensei-carlos 10 ай бұрын
If your only using a marble it should be very easy, I usually do about 3 light tightening sessions before I start yanking on it to actually tighten them then about 2 medium weight to tighten, then 1 finally like yank on that bad boy tightening sesh lol 😆 hope that helps, would love to hear back from you man see how it went! Appreciate you watching the video, and subscribe for me please 🙏🏽 if you haven’t already and enjoy the content you’re seeing!

I’ve made a Celtic slammer. I’m left with 2 cords. I was hoping to see a 2 cord weave but it was a 4. I can’t do diamond knots.
@sensei-carlos
@sensei-carlos 3 жыл бұрын
You can do a diamond knot, just practice, they are a little weird, but there’s a few good 2 strand braids you can do. 2 strand Snake is a pretty one. Is the 2 by choice or you don’t understand how to add the paracord to do a 4 strand?

@@sensei-carlos I am almost a total beginner. I made some lanyards for my pocket knives a couple of years ago but now I’m getting back into it again. I think I tried a dozen times, pausing etc, sure I was doing it right, go to tighten it up, take up the slack and it all goes to hell. Looks absolutely nothing like the knot? And I did end up with 2 cords, I wanted to do a cobra weave so I did a short bit up to the ball, came back down and found I need 4 cords! So anyway, I’ve got extra cord so I’ve taken a fid and wove extra into the part I’ve done, I’ll tie it and melt it and I’ll have the 4 cords I need to finish off. I want to make a handle noise like the monkey fist door knocker on it. I should be able to manage that, it just takes patience. I must practice ONLY the knots. That’s what’s wrong I think. I’m part way through a project and decide I want a diamond knot in it, but I’m frustrated because I can’t do it, but halfway through a project is not the time to learn that knot. So I’m just going to do a cobra weave from now on until it’s finished.👍🇬🇧
@sensei-carlos
@sensei-carlos 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGreatest1974 My advice take extra bit of para cord that you’ve cut off and don’t use that are still long enough to braid about 10 rounds of it and use that length about 6 feet to a foot to help you understand how to tie all of the different things you want to do without wasting extra paracord because it would get thrown anyways so re-purpose it reuse it and practice little things one at a time that’s how I did it and comment below really quick what specific thing you’d like to see and if I have a way to help I’ll see if I can’t make a video I’m not a para cord person it’s just some thing I picked up as a martial artist learning to make a monkey fist for self-defense lanyards 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@sensei-carlos what I would like to see is the Celtic slammer which leaves you two cords like I have, and a good 2 cord weave tutorial to make a loop handle? From wrist to end of ball about 18” ? And maybe a decorative knot thrown in along the weave. 👍🇬🇧

That’s a great question lol 😆 did I say that in the video? If I did idk 🤷🏽‍♂️ where I got that number, that’s the smaller bearing size I used to use, then a 1” and a 1 1/4” bearing, that might be what I meant unless I just kinda messed up!

Highly illegal item to carry. In the eyes of the law It's a weapon full stop not a self defence item. Check your country laws before yo make one.

Self defense (not de-fence) is not an item. It’s a situational condition. No law can tell me I can’t use this when I can use a knife, baseball bat, hammer, or strangle someone to death if the need arises.
