Hi, yes you can use beeswax. We haven't tested the recipe using beeswax so I tell you how much you will need. I suggest you experiment with different amounts until you get the consistency you want. You could start with 2% beeswax and see how that turns out. Then increase or decrease by 0.5% until you get the desired consistency. You'll also need to increase your castor oil by the same % you reduce the cera bellina as the formula must always total 100%.eg. if you use 2% beeswax, increase the amount of castor oil in the recipe by 3% and so on.

No, if you use cera alba it will harden too much. Cera bellina thickens the liquid into a gel like consistency. Cera alba is used for hardening lip balm. Even though glycerin is water soluble, and as such not miscible with oils, it can be successfully mixed with the oils if they contain a large enough percentage of castor oil and are properly thickened with waxes or oil-gelling ingredients. There are two types of pigments botanical and mineral. The colour of botanical pigments is not stable, it changes with the pH of a product or when it oxidizes. We always use mineral pigments because they are reliable, easy to use and very stable. Why preservatief i make myn only with oils, when i work with waterbase i add preservatief! But how much preservatief you use for 500 ml

Hi, thanks for your question. We added the preservative as a precaution; to ensure no microbial contamination occurs during product use. But as this product does not contain water you could omit the preservative if you prefer. The amount of preservatives you add depends on the preservative you are using. It's best to follow your supplier's recommendations. In this case, we used Geogard 221. Typical recommended use level is 0.2-1%. So if you were using it at 1%, you'd calculate 1% of 500ml, which is 5ml.

It's not advisable to use another oil, castor oil is an essential ingredient in lip gloss because it creates a very shiny and glossy finish, plus its fatty acid composition allows for an addition of a small percentage of glycerin.

Thanks for your comments. The main difference between lip oil and lip gloss is that lip gloss is thicker than lip oil. Also the ingredients are different. Lip oil contains only oils whereas lip gloss contains glycerin and cera bellina these ingredients thicken the product.

That is thin, I make and sell lip glosses and you cannot pour mine like that you have to take a syringe and a pipette because just using a syringe doesn't get it to the bottom because it's nice and thick!

Hi. Best not to use a microwave as it heats ingredients to a high temperature. It's best to use a bain marie, that means warming up a little water in a pot, on the hob. Put the ingredients container in the warm water until they melt.
