Thanks a lot! I use the default settings in Audacity, I think the quality depends on the cable, the digital piano and the computer u re using. I do sometimes add reverb in post in vegas pro but not in Audacity

Very nice of you to share this info with others! I had never considered it before; but I guess basically the Roland has it's own built in audio interface; so this method will probably work for me. I have an older Roland FP-5 which I love and never thought to use this method! By the way, I think you are the only one on the entire internet, or at least KZbin :) that thought to recommend this simple and direct idea!! I suppose any modern keyboard with a record/playback function would also work same way. And of course Audacity is free!!

It's just enough to sharply and clearly press a few keys on a digital piano before the main recording begins. And then it is easily visually synchronized, and the initial extra part is removed.

Pablo Montoya If you record throught a usb you can only record in midi! You can change the midi in wav only on your computer through software. If you just want to record the original sound of the fp-30 i will reccomend using the cable. You can check out my other video on this channel on how to record on the fp30! Thanks for watching!

I recorded my Midi keyboard in Ableton Lite and then exported it as a WAV file and the audio sounded very quiet distorted then I turned WAV off and encode to MP3 on and the mp3 file sounded way better but still distorted. Any ideas of how i can fix this? or any other DAW I should try? When exported to either wav or mp3 it sounds like studio recorded on my pc but when I send the file on my phone it sounds rly bad.

I think this- If you simply record the video from camera without audio, it will be very difficult later to sync your hand movements with the audio which you record from Piano!

This is why record audio from camera also so that while you are editing, you don't have to worry about matching the piano audio with hand movements from camera video, just match the camera audio and piano recorded audio. Later remove the camera audio because it won't be sounding good enough! You have to sync your piano audio and camera audio only to match up with the hand movements.

mix 7568 I add reverb in sony vegas editing software! Its called ExpressFX reverb! I dont remember the exact setting, but it is easy there to change the reverb till you like it! And I dont use noise reduction!

How can you still hear the sound from the piano if you plug in an audio cable to the 3.5mm headphone jack? It turns off the speakers and the only way to still hear what you're playing is to plug in headphones through the 2nd headphone jack...

If that's the case you'd think there would be a way to export that wav directly without the "rerecording through aux cable"... (by the way, I found that in the FP-30 you can actually have sound through headphone and speaker at the same time, just press function+F#7)
