This is the easiest way to make a mold. I would like to see moldmaking with a very complex model with all kinds of protruding parts and bits.

Yes I used coconut oil soap, it works very well. 500g coconut oil and 90g Koh. Mix for 3 minutes, wait for soaping, dilute 50:50 water and use.

It would have been nice to know how long to leave it before you can use it and to see the mound being used. Helpful video, thanks

If I wanted to make a mold of another cermic piece to do slip casting would it work with the orginal form in a leather hard to bone dry state or should i bisque fire it first??
@theabristlebroom43782 жыл бұрын
Bisque first. Bone dry clay is fragile and can disintergrate when exposed to water (in the plaster). And leather hard isn't strong enough either. Oddly though, you can use a model which is solid wet clay, no problem.

but without a center wouldnt it be solid and not hollow? I am confused
@wanitagons42695 жыл бұрын
Ammarae Eusepi usually these mounds are used with what’s called slipclay . You pour it into the mound and the clay that’s touching the plaster will dry quickly, then you pour out the excessive clay and you have a hollow.

Can you use a model made from clay to make a mold?
@bettyism_3 жыл бұрын
yes, but it has to already be baked.
@chunkymurps3 жыл бұрын
@@bettyism_ That is not true at all. Don't give advice if you don't know what you are talking about. You definitely can make a model from clay however you have to be careful not to damage the model when you are packing around it so therefore if your model is drier than the packing clay then that will help.
@bettyism_3 жыл бұрын
@@chunkymurps wouldn't you agree that it's more pleasant to work with a solid piece of work without having to be too careful with it? And consider that I might know what I'm talking about
@chunkymurps3 жыл бұрын
@@bettyism_ Yes i do agree that working with something solid allows you to not have to worry about being too careful with it, that's why most of the models i make these days are made from wood, but what you said initially is completely untrue and misleading so you don't know what you're talking about.

Music is too loud, distracting and unnecessary making it difficult to make out every word you are saying.

Nice video, thank you for producing this! It would just be so much better without this music, it is utterly annoying and distracting.

I agree. I prefer to turn on subtitles and mute. But this video doesn't have subtitles. 🙄

A quiet voice and louder music make this video useless. Your words are quickly said, and often obliterated by the music. What a waste.

Its ok but there are much better videos out there.
