Wow, what an awesome ministry. I love that everyone is welcome to pray over the quilt as they tie a knot. I’m only a beginner quilter but felt by the Lord to make a quilt for my daughter’s teacher who just had her first baby. She’s a beautiful Christian lady and watching this I realised I can be praying ivermectin the quilt as I make it and make declarations of protection over her daughter praying psalm 91 and praying she will fulfill her future. Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺

I suppose that while you are in the throes of making this quilt in your heart you are praying for the soon to be mother and baby ( "In the same way the Holy Spirit helps us...For we do not know how we ought to pray but the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groans too deep for words" Romans 8:26. God bless you❤😊🙏

I am a brand-new quilter. I belong to a loving, small rural Church and I have wanted to do something special that will let others know of God's love as well as ours. Thank you Lord for bringing me to this video. I already knew I would give some to those, such as children, going through health issues. This brings it together even more. It's not just me (not that they need to know me), but God and his children providing love and comfort. Thank you so so much

I'm so glad I came across your video. Especially like the way your congregation was invited to pray over each quilt and assist in the knot tying. Prayers are so needed and what a wonderful way you are sharing Jesus and your prayers. God bless you and this ministry.

What a wonderful ministry you have! I love that your entire church can be part of this by tying a knot. At my church we have a Knit & Stitch group that is similar to your group. We knit, crochet, or sew quilts for those that have prayer needs or anyone that just needs to be shown love. God bless you ladies and May God be with your ministry and those that these beautiful quilts are given too.

I remember watching my Grandma, Aunt and my Mother make quilts just like this. They made them from scraps of clothes. The batting was old worn blankets. Cherished memories ❤️

Loved your video ! A tip for tying your quilts I use a curved upholstery needle . I use a long piece of thread and go across top taking a stitch about every 4 inches or so , then go back and snip threads in between to finish tying . The curved needle makes it so easy to dip down and make your stitch . Blessings

I just started hosting prayer quilt ministry at our church. We just had our 2nd sewing day. I'm going to longarm quilt them instead of tying. Thank you for the information loved some of the tips to implement this wonderful ministry

That’s great, but we purposefully use ties to involve those who are offering the prayer. And so that the recipient can see and feel the knots - knowing each one represents at least one prayer for them. God bless you in your efforts.

Oh my, this is the most touching idea for creating a quilt I've seen. I crochet a butterfly prayer shawl or baby wrap for someone who is grieving or have a little one or loved one fighting an illness or just for them to use it as a hug from God. I am just learning how to quilt. Now I know why I have this desire to quilt. I can pray over it as I make it. Thank you for your short and simple instructions and the meaning behind these quilts. Peace be with you and your congregation. Love Julie
@suzettewoolley5397Ай бұрын
Julie you are so right. You can pray over it while you quilting or crocheting. Romans 8:26 talks about how the Holy Spirit helps us to pray although we may not be able to articulate our thoughts into words to Our Lord the Holy Spirit does and " intercede for us with groans too deep for words". God Bless😊❤🙏

My mother’s UMC church makes prayer quilts that all use the same pattern. It has a cross in the middle and is made of all patchwork. They have made thousands over the years.

Our church, All Saints Episcopal Church in Southern Shores, North Carolina also has a Prayer Shawl Ministry, but we knit or crochet them. You're right...the prayer is what counts. The look on the face of some recipients is all we need to know that we, the makers , are truly blessed. Our priest blesses the shawl at the Sunday service and all are asked to touch it and offer their own prayer. Thank you for a wonderful video.

Since they are not intended to be sold, what is the recipient supposed to do with it when the recipient no longer needs it, i.e., if/when they pass away? All the best.
@suzettewoolley5397Ай бұрын
Mackenzie it then gets passed onto the next generation or into a thrift shop where someone in financial straits buys it to warm their children or someone buys it to remake into another quilt. The possibilities are endless. However, the beginning of the quilt remains the same for most clothing that is handmade - it was made with loving and generous hearts that have prayed over its making for the recipient. God bless😊❤🙏
