All the other KZbinrs who tried to teach punch stitching failed to mentioned you need to hold the loop from behind. This is a very important step, otherwise it will not work. You rock! Thank you.

Because you don’t have to if your yarn is the right size
@chrisgoodwyn31977 ай бұрын
No, you don't have to, just make sure you use the correct punch needle for the correct size of yarn 😊

How do you know what the correct size of needle and thread to use?
@ColourFreakz3 ай бұрын
You have to try it out. Most punch needles have with different sized needles that you can swao out. It depends on your yarn and the fabric. @@dcbrendav

My mom got punch needle embroidered Christmas tree ornaments from my aunt when both me and my brother were born. She made 2 for each of us. She still hangs them up to this day. I had never seen the process before, and certainly didn't know you could make rugs with this technique! Very interesting. Also, love those key lime pants.

You should not have to use your other hand to hold on to the loops, as long as you punch all the way in and then don’t lift your needle off the fabric, drag it to the next hole to punch in and punch again. If it’s sticking and coming back up when you don’t hold it then most likely your yarn is too thick. Watch Amy Oxford’s videos, she’s the master and will teach you some better techniques. Good luck, keep punching. ;)

for next time, if you wanna do more rugs, take some nails and nail them through the backside of the frame, so the pointy side is on the front. that way you don't have to keep stapling and unstapling, you just tighten the fabric by putting it through the nails! just be super careful with it of course lol

Cotton or acrylic. Acrylic is cheaper. Use the size at your needle.
