I just found Melanie, now that I am learning to quilt, and I was thoroughly enjoying her videos. She put, not only talent, but so much sincere helpfulness in them! I was so saddened to discover that she has left us. It hit me hard, as someone who was diagnosed just a year and a half ago. I can't imagine how hard it was for all of you. I know she is with our Lord and Savior. I pray for peace and comfort and the joy of good memories.

I am getting ready to begin my 2nd quilt. I have waned to make a quilt for many years and I am excited to DESIGN my first quilt. I didn't know that my great grandmother was a big quilter until just recently. So for me, quilting is about family heritage and the joy of creating a work of art for my family. I hope to learn tips and tricks so projects can be even more fun through watching your videos. Thanks for sharing with us, your loyal KZbin subscribers.

I love Quilting because I love the idea of making something that can stand the test of time and be passed down from one generation to the next. I made a quilt for my grandmother and after she died it was given to my youngest daughter. We write messages of love on the back. It is beautiful! I cant wait to get started on this quilt!

I have been dying to make a quilt for over a decade. Spent a college summer working in Fabrics and Crafts at Walmart and even bought fabric to make one. A decade ago. Clearly, it hasn't happenex. My favorite thing, that I am looking forward to with this series is, I don't think I'll feel overwhelmed! I watched the first video and I think with the way it's broken down, I can actually do this!!!

Your video are really easy to follow. I cant wait to get started and learn how to match my material to make quilts for my grand kids will have for along time to come. A gift made means more to me than a bought gift The gift made is made from love. Cant wait for your next video? I know I have missed your drawing for the material, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed them.

I am a disabled vet that took up sewing after my third surgery about a year ago. I am now interested in quilting. I have seen some beautiful quilts and I really want to try to make one. I fell in love with sewing and I know the same will happen with making quilts. Your sewing videos helped me a lot and this quilting video just follows in that same fashion.

Melanie I am so happy I have found your videos!!! I am a new quilter and your steps have been so helpful to me. I can see where my mistakes keep happening when cutting my fabric. I have only made a couple of quilts...all to give to someone I care about. It is my way of showing how much they mean to me and how often I think of them. Quilting is such a wonderful way to show the love ; ). I also have a grand daughter who has asked me if we can make a quilt together so Amma (that's me) after that comment jumped on the quilting wagon and I am looking forward to the day she is old enough that we can make that happen.

Hi Melanie, I am just getting into sewing. I have always been interested in many different things, made my first vintage teddybear not too long ago. Quilting is something I have been wanting to try, but always thought I couldn't do. Thanks to your 5 day tutorial I now have the guts to try it myself. My inspiration came from my older sister who I've always admired when I was younger, and with me getting in my late 30's I seem to enjoy sewing a lot!!!! It keeps me calm, or calms me after a long day of work, it is my me time and for me very special. Good music and the right idea and maybe a Glas of red wine makes the perfect quilting experience. Your channel is very instructive and you're love for sewing is noticeable in every video. Thank you for all of your ideas the hints on the best fabrics and much much more! Keep up the great work! A true fan from Germany 😊

So excited about this series! So, my mother and grandmother are no longer with me. As you can imagine then, their quilts and handmade items mean so much! When I look down at a blanket and see little wonky stitch, or a fabric from a familiar dress from a school photo (they liked to repurpose clothes into quilts) - I am reconnected with them and always will be. My hope is that I too can leave a little of me behind when I leave this world and that through my quilting and crafting, I can create special heart connections with my loved ones long after I'm gone. So grateful for this series!

Thanks for posting this series!.And a special thank you for all the detailed infomation on basic steps. Some experts don’t realize that measurements and cutting fabric is foreign to us newbies. =) I am still fairly new to quilting with two toddler sized; basic 4" square quilts under my belt. I am amazed at all the seriously detailed quilts people can make. I don't think I will ever be to that level (wedding ring, sunburst, etc) but this quilt pattern is progression that I feel confident that I can successfully complete. The thing I love about quilting is that there is no limit to what you can create. You can be colorful, wild, classic, abstract, primitive, structured or free flowing. You can make bedding, wall hangings, book marks, table runners……the possibilities are endless. The most basic quilters to the most advanced can create something equally beautiful.

I love all the steps of quilting from picking beautiful fabric ...cutting...and piecing (thats as far as i have got so far!). I also love that it gives me a creative outlet and in the end it will give me something that can be used everyday and even be handed down generation to generation. I was diagnosed with MS 3 yrs ago and I'm disabled. Quilting has given me something I'm able to do and feel productive. It has been very theraputic with the depression I have from not being as able as I use to be. So hopefully with your series I can get the courage to move to the next step of quilting and actually finish one! Lol Plus I'd love to win that fabric it looks beautiful.

The reason i love quilting is because its a fun hobby for me. I can just turn my music on and quilt on my weekends. I watch many videos on youtube and learn a lot from different people. There are so much more to learn and its cool when i find tricks to make quilting a little faster. The thing i love most about quilting is when i give them to my family, friends, or donations. To see people amazed that a person took their own time to make something special is heart warming. Ill NEVER stop quilting, its a passion!

What I love about quilting is giving to others. If it's not making a quilt for someone its teaching them. I started about a year ago and I learned from KZbin. My mother use to quilt and I asked her to teach me but she was busy working so I started to teach myself. Once I started my older sister wanted to learn and now she's making dresses for her daughter. Now my mother is quilting and my sis n law is learning. We had a quilting party and went over the basics. I can't wait to the finishing projects.

What I love about quilting is that there really are no rules. I can pick whatever fabrics speak to me and make whatever pattern I want. I love that I can be as creative as I want. I really hope how to bind a quilt better. This is something I struggle with and also maybe a trick on how to free motion quilt a little easier.

I love your instruction videos. There are a lot of videos that go way to slow and I loose interest, you don't go to slow just the perfect speed to follow along with. The thing I love about quilting is that you can make them with family and friends if wanting to and the smile that people have on their face when you give them a quilt knowing that it was handmade with love just for them.

I do not have a sewing machine, so i do hand sewing for all of my work, it make me so relax and happy. How ever I did find that the fabrics are ridiculously expensive in here... I cannot afore for the fancy beautiful fabrics, but that totally cannot stop me from getting my hands on sewing! I am actually a teenage male. Quilting seems like an intriguing hobby that can be challenging, yet enjoyable. I don't currently quilt but I have been sewing for a while. I belive the most interesting part of making a quilt will be the uniqueness that one can put into his or her own project. One can put his or her heart, mind, attitude, and emotion into a quilt. Quilting, to me, seems like a great pass time to do on my sewing machine. Quilting could also teach me a lot more about fabric and cutting and give me more experience. I hope to be a great quilter someday and make ornate and difficult projects that can be admired and seen as my big break. I love and appreciate your videos they were a major part of my current successes. Thanks again for the opportunity.

Hi Melanie! I'm excited to learn how to quilt. This will be my first ever. I've learned many neat things from you--sewing and crochet! I think back to my childhood, and whenever I was sick or needed to be comforted, my mom would pull out beautiful handmade quilts from my grandmother and aunt. Those quilts are so special and priceless. I want to learn the art of quilting and be able to pass it along to my daughter so it's not forgotten. I'm a mom of 2 young kids. You have introduced me to the beauty of modern quilting, and I love that idea because it really fits our "generation". I love the cozy/homey feeling that quilts create within the home. I also love the ability they have to convey a feeling of love, compassion, encouragment, etc, to a loved one or other recipient. It makes feel so happy to know that years later, a person can snuggle up with a quilt made for them, and remember the love and effort that went into a quilt made just for them based on their personality or interests. Quilts are communicators of love - past, present, and often future.

So I decided to take this part of my mum with me and buy a machine. I absolutely love it, I have made some projects, 4 quilts, cushions, baby blankets for my neice and nephews. Tote bags made from jelly rolls, And I have enjoyed learning all I can along the way. Its been fun, and gives me some peace as I know my mum would be thrilled to see me on my machine making my own creations. What I love about quilting is the chance to combine beauty with functionality -- I love making things but I prefer to make things that are useful rather than just decorative. I also love repurposing, so I love the idea of making quilts from old t shirts, jeans, men's shirts, receiving blankets, project leftovers, etc. I just made my first quilt ever, a tummy-time quilt for my baby, and more than half the fabric was leftovers from mine and my friends' former projects, so every square of that quilt (and even the backing, which was originally for the bridesmaids' dresses from my wedding) has a story.

I had stopped sewing due to medical issues for along time ago and have missed it and I am so happy a friend of mine encouraged me to get back to it. I am so excited to be learning how to make a full size quilt from you Melanie. I have started with my 1st baby quilt for my 1st Grand baby to be due in Dec. And after that I would love to focus on making my first quilt for my husband and I from all you have taught me. You really make it all look so simple and I can't wait to get started. Quilting can be so much fun, relaxing and rewarding. I now don't want to stop once I get started each day. But I do take many breaks so I can keep on enjoy doing it. It is now my favorite hobby. :) Thank You so much for all you do and for all you teach us. :)

Melanie, This is so hard! I could list a thousand reasons on why I love to quilt! Quilting has brought me so much joy in my life. I have been able, after a long hard day at work, to go into my sewing room and forget about all the stress that life sometimes brings. Quilting has given me a purpose in a sense, because many of the quilts I make; I give to family and friends. To see their faces when I show them what I’ve made makes quilting completely worth it, as if it’s not already. From the fabric I love to use on my quilts, to the sheer process of it all…quilting is by far a special hobby of mine. Finally, quilting has enabled me to move forward in other projects that I was too nervous to do before. It has opened up many skills, opportunities, and relationships that I am so blessed to have in my life. Thank you for all the video's you post, I absolutely love them!

I love quilting because it's what got me through high school. I really struggled and my school offered a half year course. I took it almost every semester, and my teacher was amazing. She made a lasting impression on my life. I've been quilting for 11 years, and I always learn something new.. I even like to seam rip! I've only ever tied my quilts so im hoping to learn how to hand or machine quilt!!

When you asked who wants to win this bundle... I literally was the ansy 3rd grader bouncing in my chair raising my hand saying "me....me...." LOL What I love most about quilting is being able to use my creativity and love of cutting up fabric and sewing it back together to make others happy!! When you give a quilt to someone... it really is giving them LOVE. Nothing is more precious than TIME... and when you give someone a quilt, you are essentially giving them your time and love wrapped in a wide array of pretty fabrics!

I love making quilts! I love pulling all the colors together. And the actual quilting is the best part because it makes the quilt. Everyone I've made a quilt for is always in awe of the final product. I would absolutely love to make a quilt for everyone one is my very large family! But I am sticking with the new babies for now. I would love to make a twin size for my Granddaughter! Would love to make this quilt from your video. Can't wait for the next lesson. Thanks!

I am looking forward to learning how to do each step of the quilting process through your videos. What will be so nice is that at any time I can go back and watch anything I'm not sure about or didn't quite get the first time. The fabric will be very helpful and if I am not chosen I hope someone who really needs the fabric is. Thank you for all you do. Happy quilting.

My very first quilt was a t shirt quilt that I made for my fiance to give to him on our wedding day. I not only added shirts that represented him and his life but collected one's from his mother, father, grandfather and daughter. I also added pictures to it and wrote him a small note expressing just how much he means to me. All in all it was a huge project but when completed made me realize how creative and wonderful it was to make something that can be cherished a lifetime.

I'm excited to learn how to quilt. I already know how to sew (I sew all of my son's cloth pocket diapers), and love making all kinds of crafts. Most recently I've made several of your boxed pouches. I'm excited to start quilting because I think it sounds relaxing and is something I can do with my mom, who also quilts. I would actually love to pick up quilting and surprise my mom with a quilt I've made all by myself! Having a beautiful stash of fabric to do so would be amazing! I'm also a teacher (3rd grade) I love taking my projects to school and showing my kids how I spend my "free" time. I'm convinced by showing them my hobby they will see the reward in having hobbies of their own. I hope by doing this that I'll influence their decision making in the future and that they always make smart choices.

I love quilting! I started quilting in 4-H as a way to keep me busy during the summer months. I've made a handful of quilts since then. My favorite part of quilting would be the piecing. I love seeing the quilt come together. The quilts I make have been for family members and I love giving them something that I pieced together!

This is such great timing for me! I just started sewing 3 months ago, along with my young daughters, and the very first project we made was from your zippered pouch tutorial! I've made several bags and even a pair of pajama shorts since then. I've always wanted to quilt but have been very intimidated by it. I'm SO looking forward to following along with this series! Thank you!!

This was perfect for me. I started back quilting several years ago and had to stop for health issues of other family members. I am now moving back into quilting. This quilting series is perfect to refresh what the "time off" from quilting happened...AND it also lets me see what's new on the scene since my "time out" of quilting. This video was a perfect starter!

I am such a new quilter I haven't completed my first project yet but I'm working on it! The colors and patterns of fabric bundles absolutely fascinate and inspire me to create. I hope to love quilting as much as I love crocheting and knitting. Hand crafts are relaxing and bring me peace and I enjoy being able to give handmade gifts. Happy Quilting!

Melanie great tutorial. I've been sewing costumes for years with daughters in dancing and when they finished I missed the sewing so was always looking for a sewing project I'd enjoy (with no stress of time restrictions) For the last week I have been obsessed almost, watching utube content on beginning quilting so got really excited, went out a grabbed a rotary cutter, board, ruler and some fabric. But when I started it didn't seem as easy as all these lovely ladies made it seem. So back to utube and I discovered your channel and you took me through ever step explaining what, after awhile would be obvious but I needed, that basic info to get me started. Thank you for making my intro to (self taught) quilting easier. I reckon I'm gunna love this new journey.

What I love about quilting is being able to make something unique and homemade to gift people. So far I have only made baby quilts, I would love to continue to learn new tips to expand my skills and feel confident to venture to those larger projects. Its just something about a quilt that is better than any store bought blanket!

What a gorgeous quilt! I'm so happy to have stumbled across this. I love to watch/listen to quilting and crafting videos while I sew. My favorite thing about quilting is that it reminds me of my grandma who taught me to sew when I was 8. We made a doll quilt together and I can still remember picking out the fabrics and her explaining rotary cutting safety (I wasn't allowed to use one then), to cut off the selvages, how to sew a 1/4" seam allowance, how to press to one side, how to hand tie the quilt sandwich. She trusted me to use her sewing machine unsupervised and I just fell in love with sewing. She passed away the next year so quilting is now a way to preserve those memories. My other less sentimental favorite thing about quilting is that it doesn't require fitting (like garment sewing). This makes it very relaxing and fun with the focus on color and design. I'm a huge Amy Butler fan and if I don't win this fabric prize I'm sure I can find more than a few Amy Butler fat quarters in my stash to go to this quilt.
