I just built a continuous rotation servo for the first time in ages, and here you are doing the same thing. However I never thought of gluing the gears together to change the ratio and get more speed out of the gearbox! Great video, don't listen to the complainers who think it's "too hard", lol. I used to make similar cars from crashed servos too, we didn't throw things out when I was a kid if they still worked. This is a classic project, cheap fun!

*Dear FlightTest* ~ can i ask you about something please? How can you use drone gimble parts to make a vertical axis gimble for a Osmo pocket (which has pitch and roll but not yaw) so that the camera stays stationary in space? Ive had a go at making a spring version, but wondered if drone parts could be used. Any help would be greatly appreciated, all the best

While I was watching the build, I kept thinking, “Those would be great with FPV!” And lo and behold, they are. I’d be tempted to get some hobby shop wheels however, like the skinny ones you’d use for a WW1 fighter. The rubber tires could only help, and they’d be nice and round, as well. Loved this one! :-D

I used a servo in exactly the same manner to control a model loco. I was surprised how the little tiny servo chip powered the much larger motor in the loco with out any problems. It was lovely and smooth and because I had a battery inside the loco there was never any need to clean the tracks.. Great channel FDO

When you bend the steering arms, angle them inward, pointing to the center of the rear wheel. This will allow the inner wheel to describe a smaller radius arc than the outer wheel for proper turning. To learn more, look up "Ackerman steering geometry".

Hello Flite Test. A few months ago there was a $40 3 channel EZ power pack( the one with the small servo) and a $35 2 channel EZ pack, but only the 2 channel version is on the STEM store. I would like to inquire what happened to the 3 channel pack. Because I would certainly like to buy a few of them for designing my own planes! but most of all seeing how young aspiring engineers create their own designs will be the best thing that I could imagine!! Thank you very much from Jacquen Franck

i have done this but instead of putting the resisters on i would center the potentiometer glue it in place. cut the little stopper on the gears and plug it into the receiver with a steering servo and a 4 pack of AA. didn't need the ESC because the servo has one. learned to make sail boat winches back in the AM transmitter days.

Do the same speed and rotation mod to TWO servos, instead of one (or if you are really adventurous, two PAIRS) Get the cheapest "instant V-Tail" mixer you can find. Mine was under $2 use one servo for each "front" wheel (with no steering linkages) and a 'tail wheel' for the back wheel. A spoon works well, too! Or, if you do two pairs, just arrange them on both sides like a skid-steer tractor, or make tank treads! plug both cables of the v-tail mixer into the RC reciever. plug both servos into the v-tail mixer. You may have to swap wires around on both the rX or the mixer, but you can now have throttle on the throttle stick or trigger of your transmitter, and tank-style steering on the other stick (or same stick if you prefer?), or the steering wheel of your transmitter WITHOUT having to mix anything IN the transmitter. a simple rc car Tx/Rx will work as long as you can plug in servos.
