Oh my gosh I learn something with each video. I will be making a Barbie blanket for a little one and it is stretch material I was dreading it. Thank you. If you wonder why I comment so much I have been watching videos for ideas and techniques. I just stopped working after a 30+ year nursing career and getting back into sewing. Just love your demonstrations. Thank you.

Love your channel and watching you make your creations. I can not wrap my brain around this one as a beginner though. Not familiar with interfacings yet, or diagonal sewing. Not too savvy with the cutting yet either. I may have to come back to this one later. Love the bag, and especially the fabric. REALLY want to make it one!
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
Thanks J. Trick with diagonals is to make sure you don't stretch the fabric. Interfacings are forever changing, and very much personal choice. I'd recommend practicing on an old sheet or table cloth to gain confidence😀

When I do my boxed corners, I don't cut the corners out. I simply pinch my corners and match my lines. The tip of the corner to the line should be the same distance on either side of the side seam. This way, you have 2 ways, you have a fail safe in place for perfect corners, regardless of the shape. ❤😊 I've not seen this video. It went a little fast, but I think I have it. I was confused about "all four pieces", not realizing you were making 2 bags. 😅

That is a very nice bag. It reminds me of a basket. I love the print that you used. This bag made (up many times) would make nice gifts. Thank you for this video.

Look at you using the rotary cutter without a ruler! 😉 Definitely going to try this one out tomorrow, looks an awesome bag. But I will be using a ruler because I still have learner plates on my cutter 😆
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 жыл бұрын
Haha, It was just a scrap piece of fabric Sue. I still use my ruler if I want straight lines 😁
@atomiclisa2 жыл бұрын
This is so cute. I wonder if an iron on stabilizer would be enough to prevent stretch?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lisa. It probably would be on the outside, but you'd still need to stay stitch the lining as it's not stabilized 😀

Oh yeah, I forgot. When I box my corners, I shorten my stitch length. It's easier than doing it twice. When I first started, I was always scared that they would open, as they're really on the bias and taking stress the larger the bag gets.

That's a great tip Sharon. Thanks😀

I have a beautiful fabric with a directional pattern and can’t work out in my head how to cut the fabric to make this beautiful bag. Heeeelllllp please😳😊
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 жыл бұрын
That will involve more fabric kerry. You'd need to cut 4 triangles from the same orientation by having 2 fabrics faced together. However You'd have all the top triangle fabric wasted.🙄
@kerryfulford93662 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you for your prompt reply Christine. I finally worked that out for myself. I’m saving the directional fabric for another project. I’ve been enjoying your tutorials since I discovered them a few months ago. It’s good to have an Australian showing me how to cook keto. I recognise the ingredients. 😊

Christine, please, what is the name of your little ruler and where do I source one from please?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 жыл бұрын
Kaileen, there should be a link to my Amazon page for your area with supplies I like to use in the description box. It's called a seam guage, and they're available at your local stores, as well as online 😀
@paintilludrop2 жыл бұрын
You can find these in local big box stores sewing dept, or fabric store. Seam guide. Used often for measure hems.

Haha yes. If there's a shortcut, I'll look for it. Aside from a little pain, hands are doing well. Gave Chris temporary licence to use my good scissors, so he's been helping me out 😄
