How to Make a Ring with a Cab' Cut Wonky Shaped Stone

No mater what shape a stone is, there's always a way to mount it.

I would make the point that using a freeform cabachon with backing material you would be better served to bezel set the stone. Utilizing prongs leaves the “Devcon” showing all around the stone. Even a wonky stone needs to be well thought out before finalizing the design.

I try to avoid bezel set videos as it seems all the other youtube jewellers make loads of them

Ha ha. The term is called Free Form cabochon. You will destroy a lot of precious stone forcing it into a perfect shape. This way the stone gets to live without being cut up into pieces.
