I truly don't understand how this video has 51 downvotes. It's a decently executed tutorial, does exactly what the title says it'll do, with no clickbait and not crappy soundtrack.

apply glue to the boards using the stick instead of trying to drip it out of the tube. you got blobs of glue there, and a stick to use as a spatula. dip stick in blob apply to board.

loved this custom rack idea. totally am making a 56 nomad surf wagon and lo and behold a custom wood roof rack tutorial... couple things i noticed. i think the balsa wood is perfect, couldnt you lay out the rack pieces using extra cuts even longer then the rack pieces as spacers> for example, lay out your rack pieces with spacers all touching nice and straight on your work surface THEN sticking the tape to them, and then pulling the "spacers" out leaving perfectly spaced and aligned racks. And trick i learned from a ribbon award winning ww2 airplane diorama modeler? when using glues and small pieces, use stick pins/toothpicks/tacks/nails to apply precise amounts of adhesive. also you can use a drop of glue on something disposable(i use bits of pop cans) and draw a small drop onto a tool tip, you have plenty of time to do small things and can add new glue to draw from. now im off to build a board rack for my nomad, Thanks for sharing ;)

Very nice "beach look" Nissan! I would suggest making a roof rack smaller, as most of them don't go all the way across the roof :) I own an 82 Volvo 242 sedan (2 door) and I have a Thule rack that starts just in from of the sunroof and ends right behind the middle pillar. Nice tutorial!

Beautiful Datsun, ¿How did you paint it?, ¿With Normal Paint? i think you paint it by hand because of the contrast. I want to make a Datsun like your`s but i dont one to screw up my datsun. I want to paint it with normal paint i dont want to open it, soo please make a tutorial if is a way to paint a car with Oil paint is the only paint than i now than can stick to the car.
@MossRods8 жыл бұрын
+OmaGato I actually used a pretty fun technique while painting this, used spray paint for most of it, I used a rust red/brown base coat, let it dry, and then i dipped it in a snow bank then i sprayed gray and put it under a heat lamp and let the snow dry so the paint would wear off and leave a patina look, its similar to a salt chipping technique. finally for the door and hood i used brush paint to create a "poorly done" look to complete the ratty look.

@MossRods8 жыл бұрын
for the sticker bomb effect on the trunk I used dry transfer decals that I bought at a hobby store, they are used by model railroaders. I found a sheet with racing decals and I used those.

How do you make the accessories on the rack?? I need to make a gas can and I have no idea how, and there is no tutorials for it!
@MossRods5 жыл бұрын
I havent made a cas can and that's because there are quite a few you can scavenge off other vehicles. First thing that comes to mind is the Johnny lightning fj40. There are others but they aren't coming to mind just be on the lookout. As for the parts on the rack, the surfboard is from the deora 2 by hot wheels, the blanket is rolled up ribbon, the suitcase is styrene shaped to the case portion with a small strip for the handle. Finally the cooler is styrene with a small piece of round styrene bent to the handle. It was painted then used some dry transfer decals for the logos.

Suggestion: Instead of trying to put micro drops of glue on each wood slat, just put glue on the metal bar then place it on the wood. Realism Problem: Generally the metal bars go from left to right on the car and the wood slats go front to back. However very nice touch.
@MossRods8 жыл бұрын
I sometimes use a pin and some glue but the glue i use dries fairly quickly so I dont do that often, as for the bars you are right and I have been playing around with the correct way as you mentioned, It just depends on what i think looks better on the car.

Can you use match wood from matches
@MossRods6 жыл бұрын
Ink Bendy Gaming match wood is too thick for 1/64 maybe for larger scales. For 1/64 you can try cutting them in half lengthways. The scale lumber I use is only about 3 dollars a pack so I havent tried anything else

I'm just getting into restoring hotwheel cars also and Is their a difference from the diecast cars and the hotwheels?
@MossRods7 жыл бұрын
Diecast is the process that hot wheels, matchbox, corgi, greenlight, etc are made. Diecast is just a general term for model cars that arent plastic basically.

Could you use popcicle sticks?
@MossRods6 жыл бұрын
Ryder Griffeth I wouldn't recommend it. The scale lumber is cheap enough where you can get a pack for less than 2 dollars but if you want to then I'd use the tools shown in this video to make the small planks. I dont know if it would work as well with popsicle sticks as the wood is stronger than balsa. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmPQnYeXrNZ8obc

@MossRods8 жыл бұрын
WISKEY Games I actually sprayed my base coat, which is rust colored, then let that dry, then stuck the car in a snow bank, blew most of the snow off then sprayed it gray, as the snow melted it exposed the rust underneath. a similar technique would be salt chipping which there are dozens of tutorials on youtube about that
