I cannot stop watching this genius at work, I would like to be able to make some of what he does.

Did a rough build with what I had on hand and it turned out pretty good. Once I can safely go to a hardware store again to get the screw insert and a better wing nut screw I’ll give it another go. Attaching the sandpaper to the ruler blew my mind, great idea!

Thank you, really appreciate it! 👍 Let me know how it turns out for you, I'm curious. The sandpaper jig works amazingly well.

There was me thinking I would have to router the grooves. Brilliant use of sticking down the sandpaper. I think I will use your knob making jig instead of a wing nut. Very well produced videos.

Very good and simple idea. How do you cut the acrylic glass? (I have never worked with it.)
@AllFlavorWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Hello Tommy, this was actually a thin piece of acrylic. So I used scissors and sanded the edges afterwards. If it was thicker, then probably a circular saw or a trim router.

I didn’t see you check anything for square but it seemed pretty square. How did you do that? Did you check and just not show it on video?
@AllFlavorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Hello Alivia, yes, I did it off camera. I checked with a machinist square and made sure the sanding jig rails are perfectly parallel to each other.

The piece of acrylic was put in so you don’t mark up the ruler?
@AllFlavorWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, pretty much yes. I was looking for something flexible that would not damage the ruler. And it presses down the ruler quite nicely. 👍

This design is one of the simplest and most widespread, but it has several problems. First, the expansion, contraction, and moisture of the wood can cause the ruler to bind or become excessively loose. On the other hand, the wood wears quickly against the metal, especially in contact with the edges of the rule. And finally, using a soft wood will make the previous points even more critical. This problem has already been demonstrated in some videos. The best thing is that the rule slides on a totally metallic piece. I would also recommend that the tool be disassembled so that the inner foil can be replaced if it breaks, which I think should also be metal.

The screw with the wing nut ?
@AllFlavorWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, you can either get it at the store or you can make one by gluing a wing nut to a threaded rod.
