You are so welcome! Thank you! Thank you for asking about my shoulder, too. It is okay. It has been a long month with chiropractor visits, physical therapy, and my very first massage. Unfortunately, I think it is going to be a long process. I still really can't sew for very long at all. It has been rough. I am hoping February is a better month all around.

I love star blocks. This Ohio Star block looks really easy and fun to do. I really like that bloc loc template. My poor left handed brain gets bamboozled sometimes when trying to square up blocks. I don't know what that's all about!! Really enjoyed this Kris. See you next video.
@ccreel646 күн бұрын
All that means is trimming your blocks to the size you need. Do yourself a favor and try trimming your blocks with them set on point on your mat, put the point up instead of laying it down with the block top and bottom horizontal to you. I’m a lefty too and this helps me trim more easily.HTH❤
@SuzanneStutzle6 күн бұрын
@@ccreel64 thanks, I'll give it a go. I find my rulers are confusing for me. Some have a half inch one side and a quarter on the other or some such configuration and I have to be very careful and be thinking straight before I cut anything!!!
@ccreel64Күн бұрын
@@SuzanneStutzle I understand that 100%. We lefties have to figure out ways that can work for us. I hope trimming on point works as well for you as it does for me. Another tip for you is to recall in general that you’re trimming blocks using the half inch line and your 45° line to square blocks unless it’s a flying geese block. Those you’ll use a 1/4” seam allowance at the point. Happy quilting!🤗
@SuzanneStutzleКүн бұрын
@ Oh. OK. I'll remember this. I never know which way to put the ruler. Use the half inch side. Wonderful. Quarter inch side for flying geese. Thanks. I always get there in the end but sometimes how.. I don't know. haha. I am sewing drunkards path blocks at the moment and will have to trim them up. Now I can stop muddling around and do what you have suggested. I feel much better about it already. haha

On the subject of block loc rulers, does it have to be the exact size of your block or can it be larger? I know that they are pricey Great lesson here! I’ve never made many of these. Look so easy!
@SewtheDistance6 күн бұрын
Yay! So glad you like this! It is a fun project! They are pricey! You can buy the largest size and then use it for any size block. You just trim two sides and slide it down to the size you want and trim the other two sides. You can also flip it like I show with the square. I hope this helps!

Very pretty! What is the finished block size?
@SewtheDistance2 күн бұрын
Thank you! For this one, it is 12.5" unfinished (before it is in a quilt) and 12" finished (after it is in a quilt). The 9-patch components are all 4.5" (4.5" x 3 across = 13.5 minus 1" for (4) sets of 1/4" seam allowances = 12.5". The same math applies for the three rows down. If you want to make it smaller or bigger, just change the size of the units. I hope this helps!
@lindalee91776 күн бұрын
Can you use charm squares that are 5 inch…
@SewtheDistance6 күн бұрын
Yes, absolutely! Your block will just be smaller. Here are the supplies you will need: Print or focus fabric: (2) 5" squares and (1) 4" square; Background: (2) 5" squares and (4) 4" squares. The block will be 10.5". I hope this helps!
