I like both methods. What length of elastic to use for fabric length of 36", 30", 26"? Or should I use same length for all?
@NotchesSewing11 ай бұрын
You can use same length elastic for all. The best thing to do is thread in a length of elastic, don’t cut yet, pin together with a safety pin, try on your hair and then adjust as needed. Cheers 😊

Hi Angela, great video! Very straightforward and easy to follow. I have a question though. I been making some scrunchies with satin material that have a slight stretch with burrito method but I’ve been getting some excess material at the turning gap, one side a bit longer than the other, therefore I can’t close it neatly. Do you have any tips of how can I resolve this issue? Am I stretching the fabric too much when sewing it? I don’t have this problem when using with cotton. I’m a novice sewist. Thank you for your help, Angela 🙏
@NotchesSewing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine, thanks for watching. Make sure you have cut the fabric accurately and add notches on both sides of the fabric so that you can match them up as you are sewing. Or hold together with clips. You are either stretching the fabric or the feed dogs underneath are grabbing the fabric while the presser foot is pushing the fabric. Stretchy fabrics and satins are trickier to handle and sew. It gets better with practice.😊

@@NotchesSewing Thank you so much Angela 🙏
@SeamsPerfectbyChristine2 жыл бұрын
@@NotchesSewing Hi Angela thank you so much for the tips. Will using walking foot on satin fabric help sewing it more even?
@NotchesSewing2 жыл бұрын
It’s not necessary to use walking foot. Generally used for thicker fabrics. Just match your notches on each side as you sew and you should be ok. Happy sewing!
@lisaboutin55562 жыл бұрын
@@SeamsPerfectbyChristine - I think a walking foot would help you. My machine does the same. The feed dogs sometimes change the fabric length because they feed the bottom fabric and the top doesn’t catch up. Try increasing presser foot pressure first, though. That may be all you need. Also try a stitch specifically for stretch fabrics. Hope this helps.

what do you like better this elastic or the wide elastic?

I am fine with this elastic but if you have a lot of thick hair, you can use ½” wide elastic.

For the second method, at the 4:21 mark, there's a gap on the bottom left ish side. I don't understand where that came from and how it goes away help!

that’s the amount that you leave not stitched for the opening. You can either close with a slip stitch by hand or just edgestitch it closed.
@sk8tothemoonАй бұрын
I got this but it doesn’t address the material inside? Once you sew the one side, when you pull the material out- the inside material isn’t sewed?

It does, the bit where you fold it inside out of the way. I got a bit lost when you need to pull it out and continue to sew
