As a novice, I so appreciate you using a patterned fabric in your tutorial because it's easier to know which is the wrong side of the fabric. Thank you!

Thanks Paula. Really appreciate that. It’s something I forgot to consider sometimes. So I am glad it helped.

Great tutorial! 😊 I also zigzagged the fabric as silk tends to fray a lot! I used a scrap piece of silk that was 20 cm wide - became a very poofy and dramatic looking scrunchie 😄

@@MadetoSew I have a broken ankle and am laid up on the couch--I have been binge watching your videos over again. One thing I have not come across is how to stitch button plackets and plackets on cuffs of shirts. Any help you could give via a tutorial would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

@@joylittle3917 Hi Joy, so sorry to hear that. I hope it gets better soon. I have a placket for a shirt (one option) coming in a couple of weeks. I can of course do more after this. 😊 Thanks for the suggestion.

Should you iron scrunchie before inserting elastic. Good instructions.
@MadetoSew3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pauline. I didn’t iron them and we don’t iron the ones we make (possible a time issue more than anything). You most definitely could give it a press, interestingly I think it might make the seam more visible around the scrunchie?! Give it a try and see how you get on.

gr8 video and I am just starting out sewing so this is easier method for me. I was wondering though, that small opening , will it fray inside the scrunchie or show possibly after washing scrunchies/

It’s so nice to see you again. You are such a great teacher. What are your thoughts about using lightweight and medium weight linen? Summer is just around the corner.

Hi Gary, thank you for your kind words. Yes linen would work both lightweight or medium weight. 💜

Hi thank you do much for the tutorial. I am a little stuck on elastic (braided, knit or swim wear).Is the elastic 1/4 or 3/8 inch? Also why did you choose knitted elastic? Also for the slimmer scrunchy I would like larger ruffles and will make it in 4.5 inches, do I have to change the elastic length? Thanks so much
@MadetoSew3 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help. I used knitted elastic (I would suggest knitted or woven elastic as they don't narrow when stretched). Knit elastic is usually a little softer than woven elastic. I used elastic that is 9mm so a bit smaller than 3/8". You don't need to change the elastic length if you want more ruffles, just add more fabric. 😊

Early squad!! This is really helpful will try this technique can I ask , is it okay to use this technique also in an organza fabric? Really having a hard time sewing organza 🥺🥺🥺 . I really love all your contents they are all really helpful for begineer sewer like meeee 😍🥰. Thank you
@MadetoSew3 жыл бұрын
So pleased you like it Mary. Yes you could use organza, it will just give you a different finish. The scrunchie will be stiffer and more structured. But if your ok with that, give it a go! If the organza is sheer you might want to put a backing fabric on it. Otherwise you would see the elastic?

What are the advantages of silk compared to other materials? Aside from the luxurious feeling.
@MadetoSew3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is good for the hair; this is what I have heard from my hairdresser and on the internet. Feel free to 'google' it though. I read that silk scrunchies help to prevent damage to your hair, and they are good to wear overnight because they shouldn't leave your hair with a line where the tie has been. I hope that helps?

What about children sizes
@MadetoSew3 жыл бұрын
I would reduce the size of the elastic, as well as the size of the rectangle. 😊 I am not sure exactly by how much. If you have another childrens scrunchie I would measure it and see what size that it.
