Very clever and well built. Based on the sound of the drill motor, it sounds as if a larger (more powerful) one is needed.

I think that mounting the solid flywheel onto the shaft first, then put the sprocket on the outside would protect the chain from wood chips better. Neat idea. Seems to work really well. A battery power drill could be used in remote locations for small chipping jobs. NIce job!

Great build... and thanks for running a bunch of sticks through it so we all know it actually works, instead of just one piece. great concept. As a side note. most of the time, when there are comments in russian, (cyrillic?) spanish etc. I have the option in youtube to translate so i can read the comments in english. I dont have that here. Any idea why?

What you are looking for is a screw press, the difference is the flights of the auger get closer and closer together, and sometimes smaller in diameter like a cone shape or Victorio Strainer. In this cutter, you ideally want them spaced evenly apart. They make a handcrank oil press for 100 bucks that is made of food grade Stainless, that would better suit your purposes,.

Would make a good silage, chopper. How would it do with branches that weren't straight?
@mystic241008 ай бұрын
What about branches with branches?
@madflower87235 ай бұрын
The ideal feed angle is around 30 degrees, so it pulls in the branches, and can cut larger things. The ideal shaft speed is around 60rpm. The other issue is usually you want a stinger or blade sticking out at the end or else when it wears at the rear, it doesn't cut quite all the way through. IF you poke around, you will see similar designs, but not with a drill usually around a 5hp engine, or 1-2hp motor and thicker flights or cutters. If I was going to do silage, I would go for a larger motor, that is rated for continuous duty. Most drills will overheat.

@smehotronik11 ай бұрын
The author did his best and it came out well. the design is interesting, but the test video is a failure. the Sambucus barrels are very weak for a real test. but the idea and execution is great, I would rate it as 9/10.
@madflower87235 ай бұрын
He needs about a 30 degree angle for the feeder. It looks like he only has about 15. It is really based on countless other shredders but getting it to work with a drill is pretty impressive. He could have used thicker blade material as well but getting them stretched is harder.

What do you do with the chips? You're chipping good firewood. Now make a machine that will make wood branches out of the chips.
@homeremedies48536 ай бұрын
No reincarnation. When we die, our mortal body desintegrates, but our souls and spirit go to God. If we received Jesus we will be like the angels. If not receive Jesus...to the Hades and later ti the eternal fire lake. Wood chips cannot return to branches, but we can be transformed after our body death.
@madflower87235 ай бұрын
Chips for heating are really popular in europe/russia, etc. They make furnaces that use them instead of cordwood like we use in NA. Actually the first design I talked someone into making was from Costa Rica about 15 years ago for using in a wood gasifier.
