Had to share this message from Tim Hello Julian, My name is Tim Markle and I live in the Phoenix Arizona area. I have been playing golf for 25 years and have struggled ever since I started. I have taken lessons off and on over the last 25 years and every teacher had been the same. They have all tried to teach me the PGA tour pro swing. I was at a point where golf was not enjoyable and I wanted to quit playing. I am 66 years old with a bad disk in my lower back and had substantial soft tissue damage to one of my knees. I could not swing a golf club for about a year while my knee healed. After my knee was better I started getting the bug to swing the golf club again. I was excited. I went to a local pro and explained to him my past experience and frustration with the lessons I had and how I just could not swing a club like a 25 year old pro. I told him about my back and knee and he said he could help me. I signed up for 6 lessons and was very excited to get started. Long story short, it was the same old thing. He is about 30 years old and he tried to teach me how to swing like him. After I was finished my back and knee would hurt and I didn’t want to swing a club. I has so many swing thoughts going through my mind I couldn’t think straight. I was at the point where I was so frustrated and in pain that I wanted to sell my clubs. I decided I would try one more time so I went on KZbin and searched “Easy golf swing for seniors”. First, Brian’s videos came up and I watched them and thought, what an easy and uncomplicated swing. And it was geared for seniors. I then found your videos and have watched everyone of them over and over. I took your teachings to the practice range and I was amazed how I was hitting the ball and I was not in pain after I was done. I have ben doing the easy swing for about 2 months now and my swing has been transformed. I am hitting the ball better than I ever had. I am relaxed and don’t have a bunch of swing thoughts going through my head. And best of all, I have no pain. I am so glad I found your videos and thank you for taking the time to make them. Julian thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have given me the joy of golf again. You have made it easy, fun and painless. Tim Markle

Julian, you are responsible! You are responsible for fixing my backswing and the results have been wonderful! I struggled with taking my backswing up straight instead of around my body. I watched your video several times; slowing it down and Really paying attention to what you were saying and doing. I went and started practicing it. My cupped left wrist at the top is GONE.👍 My left wrist stays in line with my arm now. The top of my backswing is more in line with my target even though I don't take it all the way back I maintain a full shoulder turn and wrist cock. I am striking the ball like never before, and I want to emphasize Like Never Before. Thank You so much for posting this simple straight forward explanation. 👍🏌️‍♂️⛳😁

Hi Julian, when I watch a video of my swing I seem to over swing on my backswing. Not exactly Jon Daley like, but still an over swing. I try to grip it lightly and have no tension and was wondering if this is the cause.

This works for me Julian. I liked your concise delivery which stays on the point. I wanted to share this with you, though. When I get to the top of my backswing, my attention is on my feet which have to transfer from the left foot to the the right. Actually, I’m just as much aware of my feet as my arms throughout the swing.

I think head down, or still, or left eye behind the ball, or focus on back of ball, all of this has turned me into a stiff swinger that gets no weight shift and just hits at the ball without proper follow through/extension. I'm letting my body turn more freely now and if I miss I miss but I would rather 'miss swinging' than like this robotic stiff 41 year old that looks like he's 90 hitting a golf ball out there.
@JohnnyLREACTS

I think also one of the biggest misconceptions in golf is how the swing is taught relative to the person's flexibility. "Most' golfers have poor flexibility or poor weight transfer, so trying to nail down that swing is especially challenging.

😡, just a little rant, I would like to think that I give without expectation of receiving, I love helping golfers achieve their golfing ambitions and expect nothing in return. So why do some people think it’s right to send me messages calling the methodology without giving me the opportunity to see what they are doing. It’s unkind and unnecessary. Does make me think why do I bother 😔

Julian, thanks for the videos you post. Loved the break 90 series. Really learned a lot from many of the items you've posted. Of course, you can't control the opinions and actions of others, and you'll always come across unkind people in life. Because your intentions are good and honest and about helping people have more fun there's not reason for you to pay attention to keyboard critics. Look forward to watching more of your stuff. Thanks.

Julian. Having been watching all your videos over the last week, Saturday was the first day I could get to the range. All I can say is wow. I knew that hitting easy would get me straighter and more consistent. What I did not realise was by how much. I have been plagued with a slice for years and knew I came over the top, what I did not know is that I was not turning properly. Having done the 'dance' I am now making a full turn, to the extent that I had to remove my glasses as my view of the ball in the back swing was blurred as I was looking through the join of my vari-focals. No problem as generally I can see the ball well enough. I was blown away buy how straight and consistent and better my ball striking was. I was playing into the wind so am not sure if any distance has been lost, but in my experience, when I swing smoother I don't loose much if any. Honestly if I lost 10-20 yds I would happily accept that for the straighter shots anyway. All this from finding you on KZbin. I cannot thank you enough. As and when I am in a position, I will book a course with you. I cant at present as finances, working full time on nights and caring for my wife take presidents. Yours Sincerely Richard Greaves a Happy born again senior golfer (62yrs Arthritic knees, back, neck and hands)

Julian, what are your thoughts on hinging the wrists (side to side) instead of cocking them (up and down)? Personally I’m kind of a hinging fan, as cocking the wrists going back means you have to uncock them on the way down. That takes timing, and if you’re late it leads to some really ugly shots that squirt off to the right. If you hinge the wrists, the club face stays looking at the ball for much longer in the backswing and the wrists never really “cock.” To me it’s an easier, simpler swing if I hinge my wrists rather than cock them. What’s your take on that?
@JulianMellor
@JulianMellor 5 жыл бұрын
I don’t like hinging Larry , Hinge is like a gate opening and closing, cocking is the most natural movement
@larrybeavens7580
@larrybeavens7580 5 жыл бұрын
Well Julian, I gotta tell you...I’ve had trouble pulling the ball for as far back as I can remember. After your reply it dawned on me...I’ve also been hinging my wrists for as far back I can remember. Not sure where I got started with that; I think it was an old Mike Dunaway video back when I was studying the Mike Austin swing. Anyway, I played today and went back to cocking my wrists instead of hinging them, and lo and behold...no more pull! Plus, I gained some distance with every club by cocking rather than hinging. So thanks Julian - now I’m glad I asked a dumb question! 👍

Hi Julian, when I started playing golf more than 40 years ago I used to swing the club back and forward with my arms. Further to that I bought a set of instructional videos by John Jacobs where he advocates the turning of the body and the swinging up of the arms. Thirty years ago I had a half decent swing playing bogy golf and better. For the last 10 years I haven't been playing much golf due to business travel. Now I'm retired and have more free time. I've tried your backswing technique but find it difficult to get into the right position. If I swing the club back with my arms and turn at the same time it feels better and I get a better weight shift. JJ always said you hit the back of the ball with your arms and hands while turning through. I would welcome you thoughts on this. Thank you in advance
