Yes very important to finish well,remember Brian Sparks demonstrating the finish and hold it for 5 seconds.If you have that thought in your mind you will finish well,it will also stop you from stabbing or heaving at the ball.S/J.

As a beginner, in just over a year (approx 40 rounds) my average scores have come down from 115 to 99 (9 rounds in the 90's). All down to following Julian's videos. Highly recommended.
