I gave this software a go over a year ago and couldn't get my head around it even after watching lots of KZbin videos. Peoples layouts always seemed slightly different too but recently I stumbled upon your tutorial and I'm finally starting to understand it! Thanks!

As many have written before me, I have long wanted to learn Ableton Live but couldn't find a video where the instructor was as patient as ELLA. The basics she laid out will make it easier to expand my knowledge of the program/process. Thank you Ella.

Nice video, I learned some new things from you. One thing I do different is to click the pencil icon in the top right when in the piano roll so you don't have to double click every note in and also click the headphone icon on the left of the piano roll so you can hear the note being played before you draw in the midi note.

I'm not sure about that tbh... I know you can map certain parameters of a vst to the launchkey but not sure about changing presets

Make sure the midi settings are correct under settings.

Your welcome. Those usually come when you're at the arranging stage of making a song. I usually use risers or percussive rhythms to transition from section to section...

Omg just finding out about the scale for the midi piano roll saves me so much time 💀😭😭 I really like how you explain things, do you have a video on how to live loop with the launchkey mini mk 3? (I have one but I am having a hard time finding information on how to live loop in general..) like how long do I know how to loop a section for, and can all songs be made into a live loop cover or? I have so many questions on live looping but anything would help 😅 I want to learn to live loop so bad. Thanks for the video!

when I load the kick onto the drum rack and then on my launchkey mini press shift+drum, nothing happens and doesnt goto drum mode. What should I do?

this is the 5th beginner lesson i have watched from different creators, (about to watch this). I feel like im looking at the controls of something that crashed in Roswell. Still cant get a beat, and dont understand how to send tracks from session mode to the standard mode. I cant even get two beats to play together, and only one can be armed at a time. Keep turning it off and going back to it only to be thwarted by little things. i hope this video helps. ill keep fighting it.

thanks a lot for the video. step1: but tbh it is still confusing that you'd be so detailed but then e.g. just leave out how to clear the first try and then overdo it with the midi controler. either be detailed or not for the whole thing ;)

I was giving detailed steps on the process not basic computer skills like how to delete things. If you don't know basic functions like how to delete, I'd recommend a computer course on how to find the delete button on a keyboard.

I tried both the Arturia and the Launchkey Mini Mk 3 and the Launchkey is way better for using with Ableton Live as many things can be synced up and automated, which makes it seamless. There are also many reviews that say that the Launchkey Mini Mk 3 is the best midi controller for using with Ableton Live as it was built to be used in conjunction with Ableton Live. The Launchkey Mini also comes with the free Ableton Live 11 Lite software.
