Thank you for sharing your impressions of using the foam replacement. The result was perfect. As you say I’m sure the product will be improved as the company get feedback from florists working with it. For home, non professional users what would be really great would be something that was reusable. But I imagine that florists are the biggest customers and that obviously wouldn’t be necessary.

I did a video on this a couple of weeks ago (comparison between Agra wool and foam) and one of the things I had wondered was if it would work better poking stems into the layers. I’m glad you addressed that! I thought it might have split the block apart.
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Yes - if they cut the block so the layers were vertical then I think we would automatically use it that way. I saw that they suggested using it this way on their website, so people must be finding it better to use in that form. But does it lose water retention with vertical layers? For funeral work it isn’t such an issue - but for gift work I would seek a container for it to sit within so the container aids bring a water source. Thank you for watching 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼 Your video was great - the more people see ideas and different people trying out products like this then the more likely they are to shift to using different options ❤️

I thought this was lovely, I love the foliage of cedar and spruce (I think) and it reminded me of when I was first a subscriber years ago when you were teaching us the basics. This time, however, you were paying attention to the environment by trying out this new product which you first introduced on Friday. I love that you have done this. Maybe at some point, you would offer insight on the conditions in which flowers are grown for commercial purposes as well? Are there aspects of floral production that are changing to keep the environmental impact in mind? Thank you for making each week fresh for us.
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That is a good suggestion - I know a few growers so it would be interesting to hear how they grow, and what they do to reduce chemicals or waste. Glad you enjoyed the design 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼

Interesting. What was used for funerals before foam?

Florists used to use a bundle of moss - maybe with chicken wire over it. And flowers might be wired before being inserted as added security

So does the eco friendly foam keep florals watered the same as regular floral foam?
@juliespeer23643 жыл бұрын
That was so interesting and lovely to watch you work away again! You used twine instead of floral tape, obviously as tape isn't biodegradable, could you use twine on oasis brick? I've not seen anyone do so, just a question. It will be very interesting to see florists going over to this too! Chrysanthemums are difficult to arrange with, although one can cut the stem in such a way that its longer on one or two heads, but you still have short stems left. Well thank you John, so good to watch you working!
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 yes, the twine would work to secure a floral brick - rather than the plastic tape . Glad you enjoyed the video 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼

Lovely. I would like to try it and would like to know your website to order. How long should flowers last in agra wool compared to foam?
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You will find it in florist wholesalers or on Amazon . We are not a retailer I’m afraid so do not have a website - just this channel! I see now Oasis have produced a range of wool bases as well. It depends what you are making and how - but the block held a good amount of water so the flowers should last in a similar way to foam . 😀🙋🏼♂️
@vincentnichnadowicz48373 жыл бұрын
My late grandfather was a floral delivery boy over a hundred years ago. He would tell me that the flowers were set in pads of moss that were a real mess to transport with all the dripping water. I guess they were very eco-friendly though. Isn't Oasis introducing more eco-friendly foams now? Thank you for sharing.
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the6 have created one version that is 50% biodegradable in a year - but half remains and remains. Those old versions were a lot more work - so economically foam is faster - but it’s good to explore options and look at alternatives. Foam is plastic based and ultimately will turn into micro plastics 😬 A tied sheaf is the most eco friendly and can be recut and given to others 😀🙋🏼♂️
