Using a textured slab of clay this is a quick easy way to make a big mug. Anyone for tea?
Here is the link to my pottery shop where you can buy underglaze, coloured slips and other lovely pottery related things 😁:

I have just discovered your videos and THANK YOU!!! You are so, so good at explaining slab building and teach with such a natural and unpatronising manner. I have learned so much from you already! :-D Thank you!

I like the idea of wrapping the slab around the base rather than placing it on top. Seems to safe you a lot of time from smoothing on that bottom joint

I agree. I am going to try this for sure. I think you ran out of time and didn’t show how you finish the bottom of the mug at the seam. Do you just use a brush and slip or a coil?

Do you get cracking and pulling away from the bottom by wrapping around the bottom rather than putting it on top of the bottom?

Ah such a great fun video, especially for someone like me who wants to learn to do pottery at home as a hobby. Also, as a Brit living in Australia, your accent and Britishness was so lovely and made me a bit homesick! Thank youuuu

I was wondering if you have any videos of or know of a way to make a foot on a handbuilt pot? I am using glazes that move and everyone I see that uses them make quite a deep foot on their pots to keep the glaze from dripping off. I don’t have a wheel bc I only hand build. You’re the only one that I can think of that has answered my questions in the past and might know of a way to do this. I’ve tried to find a video but I can’t find any. Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply - I’m in Spain at the moment having a break…. Yes a foot ring - i normally just attach a flat strip of clay to the base - mark it out first with a template and score and slip it into place… 👍🏼

What about the seam inside the mug floor and the wall?
@JaneScottCeramics

The seams are nice and flat and tight - no need to mess with them... or tidy them up at all...👍🏼 minimal effort!

Its very easy to look up and convert cm to inches...plus most rulers in the US have cm on rulers already.
