As impressive as this scope is for home build, it has many issues from the practical point of view. You would be better off making an open red dot sight to be honest (something like Holosun 510). On the other hand 3D printable SMGs are actually pretty decent, if made well.

To find the focal length of a convex lens. Place the screen behind the convex lens and focus distant light source. Adjust the position of the convex lens and the screen so that until you get sharp lamp image. The distance of the lens and the screen is equal to the focal length of the convex lens
