@@ArielShootsClips not really... the way a red dot's optics works is no matter where in the lens the dot is, it is still going to shoot at where the dot masks. That requires a parabolic reflective surface which a flat peice of plastic isnt, nor is it really feasible to shape it into a parabola. Then you also get into issues of adjustments, which he never built in. Edit, spelling

Wont work that well even in airsoft gun. Reflex red dot sights like this use lens to keep dot on target, even if your viewing angle chances. In this there is only cd case plastic that is not optically suitable/sanded, or bent for that. So no it wont work on anything that requires accuracy when shooting. For prop or decoration this works well.

Short of wiggling it around before the glue dries, you'd have to make it thinner and make a bracket that could be adjusted by turning a vertical and horizontal screw, or turning and tilting the whole thing when you mount it. As for mounting, I could see putting one of these on a home made gun, so I'd drill holes in the actual gun or make a frame that clamps them together. I'd make the thing out of metal instead of plastic though ...

Is this replica/prop or actual sight?I was thinking about making one out of 1mm Al sheet and using camera viewfinder as lens. Would that work? Also thought of using laser instead of led. Ofc it would be only for my airsoft.

Put in 10 more minutes of work and it DOES work like every regular dot sights. Laser makes no sense though. Its still just light.

Super cool, I must admit. What the hell could you actually use it for though?

It looks really great dude, good job on that, but... Does it work? For actually aiming and stuff... I'm temper on making this for my airsoft gun :P

How make you aim right to the objective? I never knew how its possible

I made same but led needs to be too far to get nice dot. do you know how to fix it
@PancreasThief3 жыл бұрын
Is it zeroed to any distance or just a dot in the middle.
@lobisw6 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, I wonder how hard it would be to make it into an actual reflex dot sight, ie, keeping the dot on the same point of aim regardless of alignment.
@SelfmadeChannel6 жыл бұрын
Wont be too easy. But I never even get that paralax talk, because you align line of sight with the gun anyway :p who wants to shoot while aiming from a 30° angle?
@lobisw6 жыл бұрын
Selfmade it makes target acquisition easier, but you also have no reference for where your sight alignment has to be if your dot moves. That's pretty significant when you're shooting anything further than across the room.
@SelfmadeChannel6 жыл бұрын
Would still be too complicated I guess. Doable but way more complicated.
@lobisw6 жыл бұрын
Easiest solution would be to put a fixed crosshair, so you know that your sight alignment is correct when the dot is aligned with the crosshairs.
