Thank you for this. I had recently asked, on one of your videos, if you had done a tutorial on your covers. This morning I looked to see if you had responded, and before I even got to where I had posted the question, this video popped up! But, wow! To make the tassel seen in this video, all I did was lay out a bunch of fibers in a straight line, grab the middle, and use the book binding thread from the middle signature to tie in a triple knot right around the middle of the fibers. I have this video here that shows another way I made a tassel if you fast forward to 6:50: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f362g2evbcqcgdksi=ZwQKpbccyUUoTbQ6

Do you ever incorporate a hard spine or do you only sew the signatures to the fabric.
@passionsofpaper11 ай бұрын
My latest video (yesterday) was a journal made with a file folder and thick fabric, making the cover flexible yet firm.
What is the white material you use for thickness, is it canvas? And if it is, is it a light, medium or heavy thickness of canvas, because I am currently trying to make the front side of my first cover using 2 layers of medium canvas, but lol my sewing machine is literally choking on it.
@passionsofpaper11 күн бұрын
@joonsmelodie9927 I make covers out of all different materials. I'm always experimenting with different fabrics or different packaging/cardboard/chipboard. Try to use materials that you have around you and that work for you and your needs. There's sooo many ways to make a junk journal cover!
@joonsmelodie992711 күн бұрын
@ Sounds good. Lol I think tho that the real problem is probably my cheapbutt sewing machine I just bought for like $30. I think I'll have to get something better...even if it is just for junk journals.

@@joonsmelodie9927 haha! I actually have never sewed in my life until I saw how people used a machine with junk journals. I'll never ever regret buying my sewing machine. I have even used it to fix clothes!

Can something like this realistically be accomplished with glue, if we don't have a sewing machine?
@passionsofpaper7 ай бұрын
There are some pretty strong glues out there. Fabritack is something most people recommend, especially for fabric covers without sewing. I personally couldn't stand it and only use Art Glitter brand glue. It's super strong, and I've never had it come apart when I glue fabric to stuff without sewing. Although be careful when gluing fabric. If it's thin fabric, the glue will show right through it if it's not a super thin layer of glue. But maybe fabritack doesn't show through. I don't know.
